Day 3, Quitting Smoking
    #21904243 - 07/06/15 06:54 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

It is the begining of day 3 now.
I have gone 48+ hours now.
I am determined to quit, I have come to a point where enough is enough, id rather smoke mids than cigs, for the health of my lungs.

I keep having thoughts come across me trying to make iccuses for me to smoke. Or making iccuses to why I should wait a while yet before I quit.
Fuck that shit, im done.:havesomescience:

I'm in the process of quitting myself. It's not bad for the most part but I just get so frustrated about such trivial things now, wonder when that's gonna wear off. I'm a couple weeks in with a few days of slipping up.

Good luck quitting the cigs man

Perhaps a vape might help you quell the cravings

It most certainly did for me

I know exactly what you mean. Its amazing the excuses you will tell yourself to keep using nicotine. Fascinating stuff. No other drug that produces "Cravings" for me does this.

I smoked like 4 packs of cigs last weekend at the festival

They were the first cigs I had smoked in months

The transition back to my vaporizer was completely painless no cravings whatsoever

Now I've been off the cigs again for a week with basically no effort at all

I've been thinking about getting one for a minute now. Do you have any recommendations or any educational resources that might help me decide what kind of vape to get? I know pretty much nothing about them

Well you could check out the vaping section of the forums in the user-created forums area there's a ton of info there on all things vaping

But I'd say hit up Shroomism he can give you a much more detailed overview on how to get started and what all to get than I can

The problem with going into the E-cig Vapers United forum as a noob to vaping is that most of the active members in there are fairly advanced vapers.  Most drip, most build their own coils, most DIY juice.  It's not really the best place to find info for the absolute beginner.  It's a great resource in a lot of ways, specifically if you've got a particular question (+ some follow ups) & want to interact directly with familiar people.  Since I'm still getting the general hang of e-cigs, I do most of my reading offsite for dumbed down versions of what I want to know, and then go to E-Cig Vapers United for clarification.

That is true actually

When I wanted to get into vaping I just PMed Shroomism and he put together a list of everything I needed

But that was long before the vaping forum existed and he's probably sick of giving out advice to noobs lol but perhaps not

I'd give a suggestion but being an advanced vaper myself my knowledge of beginner devices is somewhat obsolete

That's what I did on my last upgrade  I wonder how many PMs he's gotten over advice on what to get.

As for advice on what to get for OP. I'd suggest just starting off with a tank. Most people seem to outgrow the vape pens in just a couple of weeks. You can always build (or buy premade coils) for higher ohms and less wattage to avoid being put off by giant clouds your first go around.

I did what you did & ended up getting a setup that's a bit more involved than the average noob, but I'm extremely pleased with it. Not hard to operate, and it completely does the trick.

One of you E-Cig geniuses should sticky up a good guide to getting into vaping as a total rookie, spare shroomism the deluge of PMs.  I dunno if a suitable one exists (most of the sort are trying to sell you something and are biased in that direction), so it may have to be a boomtown original.

Still, cig quitters, try the vape.  It's easy, fun, and the health benefits become obvious after a few weeks.

The problem with making a thread like that is that the technology is constantly and rapidly evolving. Whatever you post up now, may not even be relevant in a few months. I mean you can explain the principles and what to look for but that doesn't really help the noobs much. I did a lot of reading on ecigs before getting into them and I never really understood any of it until I actually got into it and started getting hands on experience. Saying pen vapes won't produce as much vapor and flavor as a tank just doesn't carry the same weight as being able to use both devices and see the difference for yourself.

True but if the thread were stickied it could be updated whenever the new technology comes out

With store baught cigs, its not only 'nicotine' that your addicted to.
You can tell by smoking store baught cigs vs RYO no additive tobacco.

Those god damn giant companies add other addictive substances.

I feel you man. Unfortunately it looks like I have to give up smoking weed as well, at least for now, because it makes this seemingly unexplainable chest pain I've been suffering from for a few weeks worse. Whenever I find out what's wrong with me hopefully I'll be able to return to being high as fuck all the time lol
