I'm on probation and thinking about using a rental mailbox service in another state in order to obtain something that I cannot get in this state legally. What do you think of the feasibility of this?

Driving hundreds of miles just to pick up mail... sucks.
But doable. Make sure you have proof that you live in the city/state where you get the mailbox (they 'may' ask).

Well it's up to you to decide if anything is really worth all that hassle.

Your new Russian bride is going to be pissed if she has to wait for you at a post office in another state!

Sounds like a lot of extra hassle with little, if any, extra reward. You should try to find someone who ships right to you. Idk where u r or wut ur ordering but I've ordered things that the company claimed they did not ship to my region and received it all the same.
U work in a warehouse and an order comes in, you fill it and ship it, you don't investigate and look for ways not to complete the order, usually that is how I would ass.ume it goes down

Are you even allowed to leave the state when your on probation?
When I was on probation I had to get any traveling I wanted to do cleared with my PO first.

Yes your suppose to get any trips out of your county cleared with your PO, but obviously since he's ordering something illegal he isn't too concerned with the 'rules' of probation.

I've done it before.
just say you're moving to the area, and want to have a mailing address there before you nail down a place.

Yeah hopefully where he plans to go doesnt have a check point or he doesnt get pulled over.

they still can't open your mail without a warrant.

Yes, but being out of state with out reporting it to your PO is a violation. When I was on probation the first two things were not to get into any more trouble, and do not leave the state with out permission.

ah, forgot about that part.
I mean, if you're trying to get ahold of what I think you're trying to get ahold of while on probation, I think leaving the state is the least of your concerns.
They have the right to search your house at any time without notice, which bad news.

You are on probation. Be a model citizen until you are off. Then do all the "Unmentionables" you want

Last thing you want is a surprise visit from a bunch of Feds

There is no way his PO is going to know he is traveling anywhere unless he tells them. I doubt he is is complying with his probation anyway.

Or if he gets pulled over across state lines.

Even still how would anyone know, unless he was arrested for something and couldn't make bail?
