sticky jars of rye

Why is it that some fully colonized jars break up nice into individual pieces of myceliated grain but some jars when I break them up are all stuck together into clumps of somewhat slimy mycelium? Sometimes they have a weird smell but sometimes not

For me that often indicated hidden bacterial contamination. I have had success spawning to bulk with jars like that though. I just don't mix them with cleaner spawn. They get their own mono. I have had one jar of "iffy" spawn fuck me on a 66qt mono. Just my experience though.

If it's a sweet vinegar smell, that's almost always bacteria.

Mycellium can be hard to break up.  I'd honestly be more suspicious of the ones that do easily.

A little bit of bacteria can be surrounded by mycellium and become mostly irrelevent, but if you get a big enough pocket it invites mold to come in.  Also it can lead to early pinning and janky mushies.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister.  I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave.  I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent.
Triggered yet?

No, this does not look right...
