To the OP, yep that sounds like a seizure to me.
You did the right things, generally you want to move stuff out of the way and let them flop around, although given the tripping situation holding him was fine and a comfy relaxed place to lay after is great as their brain is normally extremely sluggish after.
That the seizure was only about a minute is good news, while annoying and scary short seizures are rarely life threatening.
You want to watch out for long ones which can require medical attention.
As others have said it's possible he has epilepsy and given the single episode the video/flashing-lights might have triggered it with the shrooms priming it.
He certainly should go get checked out, there are meds and treatments for epilepsy (and while he should tell the doc about taking mushrooms, if he's worried about admitting it in this case he can start with "I was watching a flashing video in the dark" and go from there.)

Mescaline/cacti is the only psychedelic I really trust in part because of stuff like this
