Oxygen, versus Carbon Dioxide
    #21901976 - 07/05/15 05:16 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Has anyone built a terrarium that is half for plants, and half for shrooms?

I was thinking that each would help the other breathe.

My loss of thought is with contaminants. Maybe a filtration system between the two?

Ideas?

Finding that CO2 is heavier than O2, a step-down section for the plants (mushrooms being at a higher level (naturally)), should automatically move the air to where it needs to be, with CO2 from the shrooms dropping down like a waterfall to the plants below.

Neat idea but you also need some more knowledge with mushrooms first. 1 in a terrarium it doesn't matter if there's contamination spores. Fully colonized should have no place for contamination to germinate, and thus it can even be done in open air.

2 Co2 is heavier but by how much? I bet mold spores are heavier than the co2 particles and they'll be mixed in evenly just like oxygen and Co2. Air currents.. Even slight ones will swirl everything together. Co2 would be on the bottom only in a vacuum.

Can it be done? Maybe. Might need a huge amount of plants. Do I suggest still using outside air? Definitely.
