First grow, first harvest, few questions, feedback please

So just harvested my first cake and it felt great. I grew the Ecuador strain of cubensis. My first cake produced 10 grams wet, but is it was via a ton of tiny skimpy shrooms. Is this just a characteristic of the strain? I was hoping for a little juicer crop. Here's a pic
Is this just because of the lack of substrate and nutrients from the measly half pint cake?

equador is a variety. a single mushroom can have multiple strains. the strain dictates the shroom. you have to take your spores from your variety and put them on agar and then grow them out to get well performing strains. any variety can make awesome mushrooms it's cloning and agar work to get the bomb strains. the spores have no idea they're one variety or another. those shrooms look good but environment and doing grows bigger than cakes would have more to do with appearance. good work though

make some new cakes with the same spore syringe and who knows you might get a cake that puts out two 5 gram shrooms instead.

Ive never grown ecuador but ive heard theyre known for putting out even flushes of small to medium fruits, even from multispore. I wanna try this strain on one of my upcoming grows.
Nice cake man!

Thanks for the clarification, I've spent hours reading forums and even a few books and for some reason haven't clarified that aspect but thanks. And thanks for all the positrons feedback! Feels great, I feel this is only the beginning

And I've got three more cakes from the same spore syringe staring to pin and I have four cakes I just crumbled into a bulk coir/verm sub so we will see what kind of varying results I'll get. If I like a particular result of one of the cakes or the bulk, is there a way I can clone it? Spore prints taken from cakes with desirable results still will be no different than the original multispore syringe I used?

correct spores basically re-set your genetic lottery. cloning keeps the genes but even clone fruits can appear wildly different grown in different environments.

Theres a good way to clone by cleaning the fruit and poking it with a syringe. This traps a piece of clean flesh which u can then inoculate agar/LC/ grain with. I was just reading a tek about it, ill see if i can find it.

LC Cloning - A newb friendly pictoral tek - by creamcorn
I personally would test the LC before and after the clone to make sure its clean before using it on any grows. Or clone to agar. I used to clone right to grain jars and make an LC from that.
