Do not let BMI get you down. Over 50% of Americans are now considered obese when relating to BMI.

It all depends on what your goals/activities are.

How did you get the reading?  Did you just answer the height/weight questions in an online converter, or did you use one of those bioelectrical scanner thingys?

Either way, there is a pretty high margin of error.  Don't let it get you down.

It's just a number dude, chill out. I'm 6'5" 286, which works out to a BMI of 33.5. Lots of people are big, as long as you're fine with it that's all that matters.

The BMI makes body builders seem fat. It assumes a certain body type and musculature. It's a pretty worthless number. There are bathroom scales that measure body fat%, muscle mass %, and hydration, and some other cool stuff. They cost less than or around $100.

Dude chunky WHAT THE FUCK MAN. You look fine you're just not 18 anymore. I lug around 360lbs for cripes sake.

BMI doesnt take into account many body types.

Stop that vain anorexic line of thought, you're OK man.

As others have said, BMI doesn't take into account body composition, only height and weight.

Any bodybuilder would be categorized as grossly obese, despite having an ultra low bodyfat percentage.

You might find this interesting.

It's a 3D bodyscan of 6 men, each with a BMI of 25.4.

Yeah i used an online converter. Im going to get one of those scales that tell you bodyfat, although ive been told they are innacurate.

And how strong is that?

If you keep getting stronger, you'll gain muscle eventually. I like the idea of focusing on strength, because if you keep getting stronger, it's only a matter of time before your body changes to suit.

From my understanding these are wildly inaccurate. You'd save money and possibly be better served by using calipers and a bathroom scale.

I recently purchased the "eatsmart" digital scale from amazon and am very impressed. Cheap too.

Believe it or not (i swear these arent e stats) i used to bench 325. I can barely hit 300 now though because i lost like 50 pounds. Deadlift was 550, but that was on a hex bar (i think thats what those are called?)
Powerclean was 300. I know its not very believable but that was right after senior year in highschool and i was forced to get strong basically.

Nice numbers, don't worry about the video, they are definitely believable. Perhaps you should have included your loss of 50 pounds in your original post, as it's fairly relevant to your BMI. Keep pushing for bigger numbers and you'll eventually get some good muscle mass.
