NEED casing advice ASAP, time is of the essence
    #2190082 - 12/19/03 12:53 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

Two casings were made, one was placed directly in the fruiting chamber while the other was thrown in the incubator.

Nighttime
Dec16th
Time passes slowly, waiting IS the hardest part...your right tom petty  :mushroom2:

Dec17th All is well the mycelium from the incubator casing  is colonizing the casing layer well , and the striahgt to the fruiting chamber casing looks good to.

Morning Dec, 18th  WOW HOLY SHIT!! The incubated casing went through alot of growth in only one day its at about 15% mycelim poking through maybe more, thus it will be birthed.

While the striahgt to fruiting chamber casing is at about 9% maybe a little more.

Nighttime Dec 18th, well I am a little scared cause it SEEMS to ME that about 50% or more is colenized on the casing that was incubated, while the straight to fruiting chamber casing went is at about.....25%

THIS MORNING, I patched the casing incubated casing and am hoping for the best .....after patching its at about 25% mycelium showing.
( I tried to patch the higher spot....for an even pinset)

MY THOUGHTS: I used a VERY thin casing layer cause my first TEST casing ened in overlay, and I didnt want to go through that again....so maybe that explains the SUPER fast mycelium????
Also the strain is LIPA YAI

Patching in the fruiting chamber is normal right?(gee I hope so)

And as long as I dont over patch i should be ok right????
I just have to keep that mycelium just under the surface until it finally pins,so a little patching while I wait is ok right????

Any of this sound wrong????

YOUR THOUGHTS:???????????????

Please and thank you Sage's

Yes.
How thin in VERY thin?

>Patching in the fruiting chamber is normal right?(gee I hope so)
No problem with this.

Yes, but don?t "overpatch" it.

A Psilocybe cubensis casing will do just fine if you only provide it a humid environment and an occasional misting since P. cubensis is a very tolerant and forgiving species.

sounds like its all going smoothly to me.
i've only done a few casings and the one i incubated got overlayed and green,so i just fruit em as soon as i case it.
im just about to birth lipas on wbs this week.

Thank you..hearing this from you make me feel at ease.

I can start breathing again.

and how thin is ver thin???
Well I JUST put enough to cover the mycelium I thought that it could have even been under the 1\4 mark but I was so concerned about overlay I kept the ammount of coir low.

Anyway it seems I can pacth even a little more it that run away mycelium keeps racing along.

thanks

"did you spawn to poo?"

NO, I am going to leave things like that until AFTER I have at least my first WBS casing under my belt, but that grow with Joshuas F+ strain in the grow logs gives me a woody.

When I was younger I heard people saying....."ya man the guy that sells these mushrooms grows them in  a bunch of shit in his basement"

and I thought that everyone was assuming the wrong thing and that there are numeros ways to grow and after I started I was like HA, you dont have to use poo, but as I am learning IMO the best 2 substrates are SHIT and WBS

Like I said I am still on my first WBS casing ...so my opinion is formed by other here to....DENSE AND FULL of NUTRIENTS seems to be the "name of the game" to me.

oh yeah man, wbs colonises super fast, like 2 weeks or less, then it breaks up into 1000's of little myc balls ready to go.the only downside is cooking the shit

Well my WBS took longer tne 2 weeks!

I think next time around I will humidify my incubator a little and make bigger holes in my lids , as this time I had small holes and no humidification other then a casing incubating.

I used small holes and thus had to wait a long time, and my other 2 quart jars are SLOW to, even my B+ 1\2 pint BRF jars are growing fast .
SAD
real sad

but its cool, mycelium is growing , I have lots to "play with" and after I get 200$ for christmas......well things are going to get a little more interesting.

I thought so to, but if you want large holes in your lids you also need more RH and it seems to work fine for some of the PRO's
