Do you use a cool room? What for?

I'm keen to build a cool room, so I can store colonised dowels, as well as grain and petri cultures.
I'd like to hear if you use a cool room, what for, and any suggestions.
Do you also store freshly picked mushrooms in the same cool room as spawn?
I imagine a small unit will do me for a few years, something like 6ftx6ftx8ft.

I would get a stand-alone fridge or a small stand-alone cold-storage unit unless you have a rediculous amount of spawn and cultures

I have: a walk in cold room for fresh 2 x 7ft commercial fridges for spawn/cultures A 7ft fridge for customer collections A 7ft commercial upright freezer for dried/market cold blocks A 10ft long chest freezer with a replaced t.stat to give 10C for storage of pink spawn and pink GYO Kits.
All bought used, all very cheap ie <$100. All cost a fortune to run at this time of year!

Walk-in coolers are invaluable if your producing much fresh mushroom for market.
Check out these coolbots for a solid home build on the cheap.

Yeah always build your own walk-in! It is so much cheaper especially with larger rooms.

Yes I'm in the process of building an 8x8' walk in cooler. Hopefully erecting it tomorrow. The 4x8 or 4x10ft, 6" thick metal covered foam panels are relatively abundant used and run cheaper than new foam and plywood! About $1200 is what I paid for 12 panels delivered. They came with Walmart stickers on them... About $800 for a new cool bot and 18K btu AC unit. Compare that to about $8-10,000 for a new unit.

You should post some pictures if you can.

They are like the LEGO of cold-storage
Its amazing what you can retro-fit with the panels and turn into a walk-in.

Those coolbots look like the go...
I think a coolroom will be a huge time saver for me.
