Is it Fly Agaric?

I know they can be red or yellow. Is this one - and what is the difference, beyond color? Found in pine needles under many large pines. Also, once positively identified, where can I get more information about the effects of this when used as an active?
Thanks in advance!

That's definitely amanita muscaria. I have no scientific reasoning for it but I fully believe that they are bad luck. I'm not the slightest bit superstitious either but I had the worst run of luck in my whole life during the three weeks I was fucking around with those things. Just keep that in mind if you start having problems after eating them. I know that sounds stupid but I feel compelled to tell people.

I would also say this is A. muscaria. I would advise not using them as an active tho.
Indians of north and south american have both used these by breaking down the harmful alpha-Amanatin. This can be achieved by drying at high temps. Ibotenic acid in the mushroom is also a intoxicant converted into muscimol by removal of carboxyl ring group. The whole purpose it to get to the muscimol which is "active", but not properly drying them can cause minor to major damage in GI or death.
Muscimol is use by the brain as a GABA catalyst increasing the rate your body produces GABA. Effect of this will make you feel extremely drunk and warm.

About the ID? It's one of the most recognizable mushrooms on urf. It's too vibrant to be pantherina but again... I would keep moving if I were you. There are psilocybes out there. Find them or grow them.
