Bolete Wild Edible ID
    #21896275 - 07/04/15 11:08 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Location: Growing in Northern NM 7800ft. Pine aspen and birch trees.
Gills: pores.
cap: dome shaped slightly tinged orange.
Stem: Sturdy pulled clean from fruiting point. Curves in when hitting center cap. white with specks of black or deep deep red.

No bruising and smells delicious.

THis is my first Bolete that I have found that does not bruise blue. Which makes me think its edible.

Is this Leccinum scabrum?

Yeah L. manzanitae. looks extremely similar. That orange cap tho makes me think some kind of birch bolete.
