So im a complete noob to growing mushrooms. I dont know where to.start my research theres so much to look through its overwhelming. I wanna do a easy novice grow with the jars and box method i guess and see where it takes me. Just trying something new out. Oh and should i buy a grow kit or just buy stuff separately. It seems better to buy separate but im not sure like i said im a noob any advice welcome. Thanks!

^^ Good link above for saving money.
It's not required, but it's highly recommend to invest in a good pressure cooker to decrease chances of contamination and prepare your own materials at home with confidence. DONT buy pre made kits. It's really easy to do this hobby once you get the simple materials required.
Here's a few links that I recommend you study up on. Inside these links, are more links to great info. Read, read, read.

You can tell by species name. Psilocybe Cubensis is the most popular species. Don't worry about "variety name". By variety I mean "Cambodian", "B+", "Golden Teacher", etc.... But, penis envy tends to require a little more patience and effort it seems, and maybe Koh Samui too.
Other than that, I would just get any psilocybe cubensis that sounds interesting. They are basically the same, have the same potency, growth parameters, difficulty, and quantity of fruits. As long as it says psilocybe cubensis, the other names don't really matter.
