Comic book/Graphic Novel fans?

I just picked up Preacher Book One after being recommended it on another forum. I love to read but for some reason it puts me to sleep fast so I figured this would be a happy medium. If I end up liking it and want to continue forward it's a pretty expensive story at around $100 to get the other 5 books but broken down weekly or biweekly isn't so bad. Any fans out there that can recommend other titles or writers to look into?

Paths of hate. Paths of Hate" is a short tale about the demons that slumber deep in the human soul and have the power to push people into the abyss of blind hate, fury and rage.

I know this writer/illustrator/editor who is involved in this ongoing project. http://www.ww3.nyc/ Not really my kind of reading, but if you're interested in a couple of back issues, let me know.

I read the first few books of Preacher and they were pretty intense and good. They only get better after the first one, so I'd go ahead and check out the next. Amazon has pretty good prices on comics.
I just got through the first book of Sandman, and it's pretty freakin' good, too.
100 Bullets is incredible from what I hear, and the premise is really intense and thought-provoking. I read the first book of it and wasn't too impressed, but based on the raving reviews I've read of it, I'll give the next one a shot, too.
If you like a good, fun story with familiar characters, try Fables and Grimm Fairy Tales.
If you're looking for something gory with a good storyline, try Crossed. A little warning with Crossed.. I've never been able to find a comic as intense and depraved as this one. It's very hard to top.
I Kill Giants is a short comic (6 or 7 issues) that is well worth the short read.
The Flinch series is a three story per comic ghost story kind of thing. Some of the stories are a little scary, but nothing too intense. (Like I said earlier, after reading Crossed, not much is intense by comparison)
Ooh, Uzumaki is a three book read and it's pretty good. It's about a town infected by "the idea of spirals." It's hard to explain why this one is so good, but it's just damn creepy.
I'm not really in to superhero comics, so I can't help you out there. Then again, if you know what a comic is, you probably already know most of the superheroes out there. I feel like most of their stories are generic and similar so I skip them.
Right now, I'm reading Trees. It's ongoing about aliens that land crafts on Earth and go about their business like they don't even care that we're here. It makes you think about the "why don't aliens visit us" question.
I hope this list points you into some good directions. I'm an on and off fan of comics, but the ones I've read have all been very good.
