the blob?

My gardener has a brown growth on one of his fully colonized cakes still in the jar. He removed the jar from the incubator 1 days after it was fully colonized, and then the 'blob' appeared 2 days afterward. The blob is ~3 days old in this photo and the two pins are 1 day old. He has also been providing low lamp light for just a few hours for the past two days. Besides this thing, everything else looks great!
Here is the Tek he is using: http://www.fungifun.org/pf/pf_en.htm
BRF, 1/2 pint jars, Golden teacher strain Inoculated on November 11.
He can't find a photo of a similar contamination to help ID this with so he posting these photos. It looks like a mush but he believes it was never in pin form...
By the way the other 4 jars have just finished full colonizing, and nothing else like this is seen in them. He also mentioned removing the lid and there is no strange smells.
PS. the red line in the photos is one of the inoculation points, 4 total per jar. Also tomorrow he plans to birth this one as it looks ready.

Well, I might be going off on a limb...but it looks like it might be pinning in-vitro and that is a cap.

Yes Signo, there is some in vitro growth but i think he's referring to the section near that small red line. I believe it could be a case of moist substrate, you have to take some precaution because it's hard to colonize and it gets easily contaminated. Anyway, you should birth the cake right now and scoop out that area with a sterile spoon or knife. See if anything was growing on the inside and if there is any strange smell.

Thanks for the replies guys.
The blob he was worried about is the pea sized one in the middle of the jar.
Signo: a mushroom cap is a great suggestion. When my gardener views this mass from any angle he can't see any stem. Strange how fast it appeared.
MAIA: Thanks for you concern regarding that dark area. However my gardener believes it?s only the verm top layer there. The entire top verm layer seems like it shifted and mycelium is trying to colinize it. Its all white ropy growth, which looks good, although it is very wet as you told him. Strange even with the coffee filter on the lid there that the mositure is retained. He'll take your suggestion and birth it tonight. Also he did take the top of the jar lid of briefly and saw what looks like mycelium wisping around in the verm, No funny smells and nothing of strange colors..
I'll explain to him to take another photo of the verm top layer, but I think he is OK by what you two have said. He'll keep you updated, Appreciate the help!

My gardener took some photos while birthing his cake. He mentioned he did not see any signs of mold in the top verm layer and only smelled a pleasant mushroom aroma. It seems the substrate sank down a bit...
He says everything looks well, and this cake is being dunked right now. Thanks for helping him

Thanks for the praise MAIA, my gardener appreciates it! No, he did not remove the pins as DMJ suggested and dunked for 24hours . But good news, it looks like the pins survived, they are growing and looking great . He had doubts about them surviving the dunk. I'll have him post a picture!

Here are some pictures my gardeners cakes. The blob is still on his cake, and it looks like a stem. It was first growth so it must have been a mutant....

Here is a shot of his terrium he wanted to add also. It was take the day he birthed the 4 other cakes. He took the advice and removed all pins before dunking this time. Also he mentioned the caps on these two mushies were deformed because the invitro growth...

As of today he is happy to report more pins

I have a few casings with a bunch of blobs on them. I don't know what to think. They are everywhere. They have that tan color that the stems have. I was about to throw the casings away since I thought it was a contamination, but after I cut a few of the blobs open with a scalpal, they started to bruise blue, so I decided to keep the casing. That would be cool if these blobs all matured and grew big. I am interested in seeing how these turn out. I might clone a blob if it matures.

My gardener mentioned after he birthed this cake the growth stopped. He said it was about the size of a dime when he removed it during last harvest. He also had another strange mutant in another jar. A mushroom grew out of the top of another one of his mushroom cap, it was growing upside down on the cap. The stem on the second mush was growing skyward...
