Micropore Tape Teks?
    #21889033 - 07/02/15 04:52 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

I like the simplicity of using micropore tape over polyfil for my monotubs and it is not terribly expensive these days. Can you point to any teks or grow logs using it so I can aim at proper FAE?

One thread on here suggests it is quite porous. Is it really any better than tyvek? I don't see it as a giant contamination barrier but then theoretically neither is polyfil. Maybe I could just tape on tyvek but I would like to follow the experience of others. Why re-invent the wheel!

OK, so I see I'm not getting any replies and I've read that micropore may not be enough for FAE. Is this why?

I thought maybe increasing the number of holes or size might be enough but maybe not. They do sell it in up to 3" widths!

Actually this (3") is what I used in my last round of grows but it was several years ago and while I was fairly successful, I'm guessing now that this was one of my problems.

dude, just use pollyfill....

I've never used the tape for a substation but it seems as if it wouldn't be appropriate for FEA.

I've had some success using large, rectangular band-aids to cover monotub holes in the past, back when I first started this hobby. You could try that.

However, Th3Issu3 is right, just use polyfil. I bought a big bag of quilting batting years ago to stuff holes with and I've never looked back since, it's far superior to tape or band-aids.

I'd imagine if ironed polyfil works mp would too (for the bottom holes). So it seems we're thinking the same thing haha. It might be a sweet solution to have 1 or 2 layers over the bottom holes and never change it. Use magnetic things during colonization, like the polyfil patches. Also mp is 50 cents a roll. Pretty damn cheap.
