Will be gone 4th july weekend. Harvest early or late?

So, I have a monotub doing well right now. Saw pins on Monday morning, and steady growth for the past 4 days. Judging on my past grows pins to broken veil is about 5 days right on the dot.
Problem is I will be gone from my home tomorrow, thru late sunday evening.
Should I harvest my shrooms now? They clearly aren't fully matured. Or leave them be for the weekend and see what develops.
My plan was to harvest the most grown ones tonight in about 6 hours right before i leave. The smaller ones should be ok and not go ripe and dump spores.
What are the consequences of leaving them for an extra 2 days after they start dumping spores?
What are consequences of harvesting them now?
Pics below,

The most matures ones look like this...

Harvest the big ones and take a chance and leave the smaller pins if you think they won't have time to open up and drop spores everywhere. That would be the only concern probably

you won't be gone long, any fruits that mature and drop spores will just get a little bigger.
There's nothing wrong with harvesting early. some even prefer it due to smaller, more concentrated (alkaloid wise) fruits.
Personally I'd just harvest any that are close to maturing and leave the rest. But this is only because I hate spores getting everywhere.

Sounds good.
Thats what I will do.
I wouldnt mind the spores everywhere but this is the first flush and I'd like the substrate to not look like shit for a potential 2 or more flushes.

and you have? How do they react?
(I've seen a trusted cultivator say that spores on the substrate can lead to bacterial contamination. But when I PM'd him requesting an explanation he never replied. So don't quote me on that)

Tastes awful and feels grainy- I let a sporesplosion happen one time and never again will I let that happen. I'd rather take'm young.

Ditto, then you can take a few with you when you go watch fireworks
And when you get back, more beautiful fruits will be waiting to welcome you home.

Same here, i like a clean looking cap attached harvest. and like albalzer said, their saidto be more concentrated alkaloidwise

That's why a small fruit has nearly as much actives as a much larger fruit. The larger fruit is engorged with water, thus it's less potent by weight. That's a fact....

Wouldnt it be just as potent by weight once dried? If they have the same biomass and psilocybin then once you remove the water there should be no difference other than cell elongation?
Unless you plan on dosing with wet shrooms based on weight it shouldnt matter in my opinion.
Either way its still advisabe to pick early if need be or if you simply want to.

thats a good point..I mean how does the mushroom get heavier if its only water thats making it bigger supposedly? We know that a small mushroom weighs less than it will after it grows. (dry weight)
But, if RR said it, its probably true.

HOLY SHIT! I didn't even think of that!
Absolutely harvesting the big ones now then for a 4th July firework trip!
Wont have time to dry so how would you guys suggest to adjust my dose for the non mature shrooms? I'm still quite new ( 2 trips under my belt. 12 grams and 22 fresh. )
I'm thinking 25?

Maybe thats why RR specifies NEARLY as much because if both are dry then the larger mushroom is slightly more potent. However the difference in psilocybin could never compare to the difference in water weight therefore the larger fresh ones are technically less potent until dried.
I have never messed with fresh but many people suggest a tea and 25g with an average of 90% water would be approx. 2.5g dried. Exactly the amount i personally would take for halloween or the 4th.

When RR said it's less potent by weight, I'm pretty sure he was saying 5 wet grams are not the same as 5 dry. Seems pretty obvious to us yeah, but to a laymen, not so much. Unless I'm mistaken, they take on so much water to aid in the transport of nutrients through the tissue, thus increasing comparable potency when dry. Again I think I read that somewhere but I could be talking outta my ass. I've always just stuck to the approximate dosing chart. I really really doubt your going to come across a fully developed cube that is twice as potent as the average mushroom. 1g - Big smile and empathy, colors enhance 2g - Uprgrade to universal empathy and making deep connections 3.5 - Tracers, colors, the classic notion of tripping 5g - Whoooooa.... uh.... hm... uhhhhhhhh. 7g - More intense than comfortable. DO NOT RECOMMEND

That will be very comparable to your other trip at the same dose. For fireworks, fuck yeah.

That makes more sense than a more mature mushroom being less potent. I think you are spot on because the cubes are always about the same.

When I did my first grow I was very disappointed with my results at first. I was seeing people post all these pictures of these big fat mushrooms as big as their hand and mine were all so small. They didn't lose a lot of weight when dried out but WHOA they were every bit as potent as any I had bought. The thing that struck me though was how little cramping and stomach pain I felt as opposed to getting some from a random source (in my area people would pick them in the fields and toss around words like 'Hydroponic' )
I think the only time you are going to see diminished potency is if they hadn't matured yet.

but everybody knows that 5 grams wet is less potent than 5 grams dry. why would RR waste his time explaining that?

Then why would RR say it's a fact without any proof to back it up? Genetics is far more important than maturity of fruits when it comes to potency. Anyone who's had a super over gown 4 gram mushroom thinking it'll be weak was sadly mistaken. At least I was.
Pick or don't pick OP. Seriously up to you. I personally rarely pick at veil opening. I always let them open up and get flat. Most of the time it doesn't drop too many spores on the substrate, so subsequent flushes don't get effected too much. Also I made up a tek if you do get a Sporesplosion for those of you who hate spores

They look pretty small... I would leave them be and let them reach their full potential. Patience is key.
