Nothing to worry about. Just a little bruising. Won't spread unless you keep it in 100% humidity.

Think it will mess up the new growth?

The real question here is 'What did you do to the kids for doing this'?

--------------------
One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
'Which road do I take?' she asked.
'Where do you want to go?' was his response.
'I don't know', Alice answered.
'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'

Did you actually see your kids "stab" this?

That doesn't look like a puncture or stab wound..

Looks like a snail or some other bug chomped on it, happens to mine all the time.
Pups and new tip growth are very vulnerable to insect damage.

Oh! They were your kids... For some reason I pictured a group of neighborhood kids were walking by and decided to mess with your stuff.

Looks like it should be fine. It'll have a little scar but should recover nicely.
