ID HELP- looks like Pluteus Salicinus
    #21888144 - 07/02/15 02:16 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Habitat:
Found on a tree stump in Southern Georgia after heavy rainfall.

Gills:
Beige-ish light colored gills, free gills

Stem:
Approximately 2.5 inch stem, white-ish color towards the cap and slowly darkens into a brown-ish color towards the bottom, solid, and thin

Cap:
Approximately 2 inches in diameter, brown-ish grey color, umbonate cap

Anyone know what this is? It looks a lot like Pluteus Salicinus, and given the region it grows in, where it was growing, and when it was growing it just makes sense. Thanks for the help

It's a Pluteus sp., however P. salicinus is a European species, the close relatives fruiting in US
being P. cyanopus and P. americanus if I'm not utterly mistaken.

Not sure if this is one of those, did you check for bluing in the stem base?

P. Salicinus is a European species, but they have been found around my region although it is rare. It is possible that it is P. cyanopus or P. americanus, but it most closely resembles P. Salicinus I thought. I've looked at the stem and have seen no bluing or bruising.

Yeah, there's no way it could be what I thought it was because there is no bluing after I handled it so much... Oh well

EDIT!! HOLD UP! I was about to throw it out my window to fertilize my yard when I saw on the cap it had some blue bruising! Hooray! I'm still kind of curious as to what species of Pluteus it is though... I guess it's safe to assume it's either P. Salicinus or P. Americanus

Erm, kinda late for that lol... I kinda ate them a couple of hours ago, got a very very mild high from them, but wasn't expecting much considering they're known for their low potency plus there wasn't much bruising.
