things you love and hate about your job

i have been stuck in the bar and restaurant business for a decade at this point, started at corporate places and have worked for a handful of private companies and seen all sorts of wild stuff in my days.
by far my most enjoyable part is pound drinks in a night club drink only environment, great money, low level of conversing with customers due to being busy, and you get to impress people with efficiency/speed/skill. i enjoy making people happy serving food as well but people generally treat you worse and tip worse when serving food in my experience. hate serving tables for 2 hours to get fucked on a tip while giving great service, tending bar they need you so they mind social boundaries a little more.
things i hate currently ;
i manage a team of 3 to 10 people depending on the night, the redundancy of telling experienced people how to better do the job and make more money only to have them revert to bad rabbits the second you are not watching.
inventory is the worst, my boss never even looks at it, it takes 5 to 8 hours to do depending on the month and there are always massive variables like point of sales improper labeling, impromptu product swaps do to paying or not paying vendors on time/promotion specials. all in all i don't mind doing the actual inventory but updating the excel sheet with new price points, delivery and amount purchased dates.
best part is i returned to this company 18 months ago (worked their previously 2 times) to replace the bar manager, then last fall i get "promoted" to mar manager/assistant general manager and promised a raise. i do a great job all through our busy season then remind them of my raise, more promises...
long story short i have all my inventories and invoices since February as ransom for my year to date hours that need my 2$ an hour added
not my first rodeo but it sucks working for crazy people.
all in all working in a bar is light hearted 95% of the time.
what do you guys love and hate about your employment?

I hated being a server. I got shit on so much and for not good reason at that. I'm currently unemployed since summer school is kicking my ass right now. When fall starts i'm definitely going to start looking again since i'll have more availability. I know damn sure it's not going to be in the restaurant industry though. Fuck that shit

im stuck currently, bought a house 6 years ago and it is the only thing i can make my bills with besides selling illegal drugs or being a whore. averaged out i make like 25$ and hour so i can't complain really, the boredom can be a bit much but if you can cultivate a good crowd it helps tons. 90% of my headaches come from my owner for sure.
servers get shit on a lot, but even more so if you play manager on duty, then comes that vile series of lies, i ate all but one bite but it was inedible... like really, don't fucking eat it if you don't like it.

I love the people
You ever see the wolf of Wall Street? It's kinda like that - in the sense that it's a pretty large company and we're all sort of a big family (as corny as it may sound).
I would still work less if I could. Shit, who wouldn't?
oh, and some of the food sucks.

Well I'm in charge the majority of the time which is nice, my boss is a cool dude and the job itself isn't bad
But it's a gas station job so it's always gonna suck to some degree
It gets annoying having to constantly deal with people's bullshit because the pumps don't work right but hey why spend the money to fix them when we can just make the cashier deal with the crap?
But still it's not a bad job and it has improved my people skills to a certain extent
It's just not an exciting job at all

I've been working at a hotel the past three works, room cleaning / house-keeping.
It isn't so bad, it is a nicer hotel, too nice and expensive for junkies to stay at. I would say probably about 99% of all the people who stay there are tourists, I live in a tourist town, and about 75% of them do not speak proper English, it is all either Chinese/Japanese or German tourists, they all keep their rooms pretty clean and tip rather well.
The people I work with are cool, most of them are women age sixteen, so that gets a little annoying, the kind of kids that think smoking pot is the end all be all of being cool.
I work with a lot of polygamists too, so always something interesting to talk about.
It just gets a little repetitive, otherwise an awesome job.

Repetition is every job. Should say I can drink any time I want to really but generally reserve that for post work.
Inventory was chill, slow season so really light, back is sore so I have a couple hydrocodone that made it much more enjoyable. Busy holiday tomorrow, rutine but also high intensity and very loud.

Pros: Its a joke easy job, the hours are whatever the hell I want them to be, I have as much free time as I could ever want. Cons: It doesn't pay anything, its not considered a "real job"... its not actually a "real job" or a job of any sort...
Yeah, currently unemployed and spending my days looking for work, it sucks balls really. but i'm making the best of it by using my spare time while job hunting for fitness, visiting friends and family I haven't seen in months etc.

I sit in a booth all day and watch over a parking lot.
Pros: coworkers I don't like don't bother me. Coworkers I really like will make their way out to me from our main store to talk to me (and sometimes bring snacks). I get to work alone and be outside (in the shade) allll day long. The job is slow and I get to read a ton of books and whathave you
Cons: customers are all older men who stink and have rude older man boners, so I get hit on all the time. People sometimes think I'm a cop (laughable), and the most common joke people tell me is how they hope I don't find the dead body in their trunk! That's never once been funny. Not ever. I give a dead pan "ha ha."

Last job was retail (waiting on an opening for a better job now). Didn't love anything about it. You're basically just signing up to be shit on from two sides, every day, and expected to love it and smile and ask for more.
I was manager, which means I get to solve all the problems. Customers are fucking DUMB ASSES. There's never a misunderstanding and "oh I didn't realize, my bad" it's always "FUCK YOU YOU PIECE OF SHIT THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS I'M GOING TO CALL CORPORATE ON YOU YOU'RE BENEATH ME YOU FUCKING COCKROACH". Then you get to deal with the higher ups in the company who tell you what you're supposed to do, and there's a trickle down effect. Store manager passes down their duties to the assistant manager who in turn passes those and their duties onto us "regulars". Then we're expected to do 3 people's job all the while constantly being called all around the store to make change or do cash pick ups or deal with the oh so delightful customers I mentioned earlier. Then when you can't miraculously get this shit done, you get reamed for it by the higher ups. Then we get "YOU NEED TO PICK UP THE SLACK. I'M TIRED OF HAVING TO DO ALL THIS SHIT BY MYSELF YOU LITTLE PIECE OF SHIT. YOU DO WHAT I TELL YOU TO DO I'M GOING TO WRITE YOUR ASS UP YOU MISERABLE FUCKING COCKROACH".
Fuck that shit. I'd rather kill myself then ever go back to that.

With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. I like the fact that I have a cool boss, I don't really speak to him that much because I don't feel like I have too. I would never fuck with the guys business, I respect any family man that works hard and is legit, so I give him good work. I hope that my working hard in silence impresses him, if he needs anything all he has to do is ask, and if I have issues with something I will find him and discuss.
Some days I come and go as I please, it's like I know what has to be done, so I am going to do that, then leave at the top of my game so that I don't give the dude shotty work from spreading myself to thin.
But I think people at work think I am a dick because I like NEVER talk, I am not trying to be rude, I just don't subscribe to the notion of making mindless chatter just because I want to hear myself, ya dig? When I work I am all about work, nothing else. I have ADHD, so I have to stay on task to get the best job done, otherwise I start spacing out. Being sober now, shutting up and staying on task is imperative to my ability to operate on a godlike level at work, it's hard out here for a pimp.
There's some real negative cats at work, which makes it meh some days, but overall that's just life. I can't really complain about much, I am just happy to be alive.

oh no people how thoughtless people decide to not give you money for doing your job. Who would have ever thought that a person would be pay by this thing called an employer which then sets a fixed price in order to cover ALL costs including wages.

not how things work in america, great point but that is just not the way it is here. if the service industry didn't have a commission payment system (tips) no one would give a shit to provide anything but tolerable service.
great job at coming across as an ignorant down under troll though 5/5.
and yes you are correct they decided to neglect the payment system that fucks me the person providing you with wonderful service during your meal, not the big bad (small business) restaurant. get some culture and try to not be such an assuming cunt.
