Genetic Deterioration Question - G2G and Cloning
    #21884660 - 07/01/15 07:36 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Maybe I am just trying the wrong search terms but I can't seem to find out why genetics deteriorate after repeated G2G. Is it just the culmination of mutations from cell multiplication?

Also, so that I can wrap my head around this problem, does this include tissue cloning? Say I G2G twice and then clone a mushroom from the resulting flush, is this just as bad?

My understanding is that to keep genetics up I would want to continue to reuse a master culture, and/or return to spore for occasionally to shuffle the genetics again.

Just trying to say this out loud to see if I am on track or just talking gibberish.

Its not nearly the issue you think it is. If you G2G 3 times and cloned a first flush fruit it will live a long time. If you keep master cultures properly slanted and rotated you could keep it around for 100 years.

If you just wanna G2G a clone, you could probably do it 30 times at least.

That is exactly the term I was missing! Thanks. From a quick skimming it looks like I am on the right track but as pastywhite pointed out I am probably overestimating the effect.
