My Banisteriopsis Caapi * 1
    #21884446 - 07/01/15 07:07 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

I'm so thrilled to have to plant among my others, I will treat it with the most respect

I'm also trying to germinate Psychotria Viridis seeds, I don't have high hope but I sure won't give up

I received it in the mail 2 days ago ( Caapi )
Poor little thing is probably in shock...
I bought some potting soil with vermiculite, is it a good time to change it's substrate ?

Anyway, this plant fill me with happiness and I really want it to thrive.
Just wanted to share the picture and collect any tips, comment and informations you guys might want to share.

Nice little plant you have there. I've not grown Caapi successfully yet, so I have no real tips for you. But I'm sure someone here will add their thoughts soon. Caapi is definitely on my list of plants to get.

BTW, if you don't have luck with the viridis seeds, you can also try leaf propogation. They are very easy to get going that way. If you get a few leaves and stick em in the soil, they will root and throw out little baby plants. The hardest part of growing viridis is getting actual viridis... Most 'viridis' sold and traded is actually P. alba.

'Which road do I take?' she asked.
'Where do you want to go?' was his response.
'I don't know', Alice answered.
'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'

Two leaves have now fallen, a small and a medium one

Should I leave it in shady spots or indirect light ?

I think I might put it in a new substrate and pot... any thoughts ?

Wow it looks good so far I got my caapi about a month or two ago and and it only recently started growing. It will accumulate pests pretty quickly around the based if the leaves. Sense mine us still pretty young and fragile i go out and carefully rub them off with fingers. You have to be careful though because young leaves are pretty fragile. I keep mine outside under a focus tree so it's mostly shaded with very little filtered sunlight. And at first a lot of my caapi's levees fell off but they cane back in time. And I also treat mine with a lot of respect haha.

It's a beauty. Does it grow well as a houseplant just like that or does it require misting for more moisture?

I live in south Florida so mine grows nicely outside. And I don't really have to mist the leaves but that's probably due to the humidity. But I've seen videos where people grow their caapi inside because betels were eating the leaves.
