pinning from cow manure compost
    #21884251 - 07/01/15 06:37 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

To make this short, SWIM has a vegetable garden and their friends family has a giant cow manure compost pile.  SWIM took a few chunks of this compost to use as fertilizer for their garden and left them in the car for a couple days.  Today SWIM said he took them out of the car and was breaking them up and spreading them at the base of his plants when he noticed some white pins with golden centers popping up from one of the chunks. SWIM is wondering what he can do to further encourage growth of these pins. Would it be wise to leave them in humid greenhouse or will light destroy these little ones? I can't identify them yet but hope to when they grow up. Thank you for any information that you are able to provide

Just because this topic is advanced to you doesn't really make it an advanced mycology topic.  Have fun with that SWIM shit.

Also spamming all of the forums with the exact same post is fucking unacceptable.  You picked the forum where it would be LEAST likely to be read to actually make your own topic.

I apologise for offending  you, but your giving me the sence that you advanced micologists have a short temper and some sort of ocd when it comes to forums.  Maybe your so uptight because advanced micology is just too advanced for you and maybe you need to eat some of the fruits of your Leighbor and relax for a night.  Anyway instead of getting all pissed off why not help me out and direct me to the proper place to post this question as I did mention in my reply that it was my first time ever using this website and the reason I posted my question a few times in a couple different places was because I couldn't figure out how to make a post of my own.  Again this is MY FIST TIME using this site and I'm sure you weren't an instant forum master and I'm sure in becoming an "advanced micologist" you had to start somewhere and im sure that somewhere included alot of annoying questions just like mine.
Thanks anyway for reading this and not providing me with any useful info at all.

If the manure is fruiting in the field, then its obviously pretty happy just where it is. Trying to move the, erm, pile, would likely damage the fungal mass within and delay or even halt whatever fruiting would take place.

In addition there are dozens, if not hundreds, of species of fungi that grow in/on manure, so changing the conditions it is in, even a little, might give some other species an advantage and let it bloom and take over.

Light, however, will not hurt them. The fungi actually use light as a trigger for directional growth sensing, and a bunch of other metabolic activities. No need to worry there. As for "encouraging" growth, I'm not really sure what to tell you. The garden that was fertilized may end up with the occasional mushroom popping up, but as for moving the poo elsewhere to let it fruit I really have no idea what the procedure would be.

And as for the forum, don't worry too much, its all a matter of knowing where to start. I suggest heading here: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/postlist.php/Board/83 . Read through there, bounce around the topics, ask questions. Its a board designed for the newest of folks, and hopefully someone there can give you some more exact info than I.
