My apologies, instead of noob tips I should have said my preference.
Why does everyone who gets corrected around here try to make out the person correcting them to have an ego issue and think they're a badass? Pastywhyte has that issue sometimes too and I know for sure that he's actually helpful.
If anything it proves how much of a pussy you are if I can't even be a "normal person" for adding to a piece of advice(and it was advice, no use arguing that) that was rather one-dimensional.. As if that's what defines my attitude problem.
Dude, you told someone new at agar some stuff that isn't necessarily true. Just say okay and walk away, why are you arguing with me at all? Like, how long do you want this conversation to be? It could've been over already.
be a normal person but understand that the normality needs to fall within the rules of the forum

some potato flakes have a couple black specs here and their, notice them when they are going in so you don't mistake them for a contam.
don't pour too deep - it's a waste
I find if you make slightly stiffer agar it tends to work better

I prefer to pour thicker plates like 30 milliliter in a 90 millimeter plate, thicker plates last longer in storage and don't stick to the sides of a jar when doing agar to grain like a thin pour
I'm lazy, I have an attachment for a flask that doses 10ml at a time. I use 30ml on a 150mm plate. extra dept has a lot of advantages though

And this is directed at me, not the dude who is now using my post count (??) as a straw man to STILL CONTINUE to avoid accepting that someone added to his suggestions constructively?
When I post, I'm addressing the content of his post. When he addresses me he's pulling shit out of nowhere that has nothing to do with anything. Post count, semantics, opinions, etc. This was about agar, not what constitutes "advice". Yes my posts certainly read more angrily but it's not about that.
If people weren't coming into threads and saying stuff like "Don't do this, it's a waste" when there's like a dozen reasons it's not a waste that are easily identifiable by anyone paying attention, maybe there wouldn't be so much backlash from those like myself who make it a priority not to just spill opinion and preference everywhere without labeling it as such.
Yes I'm an asshole and yes I leave a trail of heated discussions in my wake, as I'm sure you're well aware, but if we can call any form of disagreement "flaming" and classify it as a rule violation then no good discussions will ever happen here. When people growing illegal shit need babysitters to be forced to play nice that says a lot. I talk shit about people's decisions, not the people themselves, in all fairness.
edit: I'm gonna leave it at that for now though, because I really don't want to derail this any further, and I want to see where this thread goes when it gets started. For now, you have my promise to at least go a few pages without raising hell about something. Mush cult is srs business though.

The only way to tell how potent a mushroom is, is to eat it.
Pretty sure that's common knowledge.

Bill do you know the backstory on those cat paintings in your sig? About how they're paintings by the same artist as he gradually descended into the depths of schizophrenia over the years? Crazy stuff.

I'm excited as hell for September 1st now .
-Also when ordering pre poured dishes how long will they be good if kept in the fridge? I was considering ordering them this week, but I'd hate for them to go bad in the next 2 months.

Ya my girlfriend first showed me his work a couple years ago. He's from the late 1800s and he started out drawing normal looking cats and cartoon animals. As he degraded mentally, his artwork morphed into these psychedelic works of beauty. His name is louis wain

Agar is very user friendly. I have failed quite a bit with PF tek which is supposed to be for noobs. Then agar came into my life.
Love the concept of this thread. It is not a competition like MAD said, but more of a bonding experience among anyone and everyone who enjoy the beauty and exhilaration only a mushroom could conjure.

You're funny. What would it be a competition on? Who gets the most or who gets the first mushroom? It just made more sense to just make it a community learning thing. You know that kinda bs haha. I don't mind fun competition between experienced growers, but there's also noobies who haven't even done agar. I just want it to also be motivation to do agar for noobies too and a place for us to critique each other. 10 heads learn more than 1 head could.
And to send prints at the end in for lottery

It will be a good learning experience for me and the other people new to agar. I have no doubts about that. This way if we run into trouble we'll have plenty of people doing the same thing at the same time to help us out.
