Quick update time! 15 days since the agar drop. Lots of stuff is almost done! Cubes/pans will be getting a shake soon tho..
Shiitake:
Reishi:
Mexicana:
Cubensis (Albino A+ and peu):
Pan cyan:
I love growing different species and comparing them. I can't get over the aggressiveness of the edibles and mexicana.. Now I can see why people say we should be recommending mexicana to newbies lol
I've had 0 spawn contams (knock on wood)
This is all my agar. Majority of it is about to go into more spawn (as if I didn't already have enough jars )

Mad Season said: Haha definitely! Those look bad ass! I'm glad you got it going!! When I grew the Ecuador's, they colonised so fuckin fast. How was the cleanliness of the print?
It had to have been clean, and is a HUGE print - a lifetime of spores, because I was able to turn the first plates that got hit with spores into LI. I was suprized I got away with it because my sterile tek isnt the best. That's why I decided to do up some jars with em and see how it went with straight MS genetics. I still am anxious to see how the big tub with cleaned up genetics does though.
Spore -> agar -> LI -> PF jars -> crumble to bulk -> first mature shroom: 51 days.

I've been neglecting this grow.
the only thing still around that I nocc'ed up on 9/1, is the pans.
I transferred them to grains finally a few days ago. it's cold out so they're gonna be colonizing slow.
(insert pic of plain uncolonized rye grain jar here)
I'll update when it's colonized, or I spawn or something

2nd round of cornmeal agar plates liquid inoculation. this attempt was done with a higher volume of water ratio.
one pint jar was used with a blade assembly on it. it was filled half full(1/2 pint) with water to one plate ratio.
the higher water volume ratio i used took as long as regular LI to colonize. It added about 4-5 days without a shake to around 12-14 days. the ideal goal was 5 days without a shake. which was accomplished, but i wanted to see how far i could expand the media in order to get the same speed and growth. right now 20-24 quart jars is perfect with an entire plate with 1/4 pint of water.
i did the last round inoculating 30 plus quart jars with the higher water ratio. those jars are now about 99% done. most of them are colonized. a few that i didn't shake well are almost there.
ill be spawning them this weekend.

thanks! not the speed i was looking for though. i think ill stick with the original formula. 1/4 pint water in a 1/2 pint regular mouth jar to 1 plate cornmeal.

Two of my three B+ tubs are in fruiting. One was fruited immediately after spawning, the second was colonized for ten days, the third will be fruited once it's starts to pin.
None of the genetics I thought were PE from clones or the print I took showed PE traits. Not sure what they are, the caps don't tend to open fully and the spore load is light. They tend to produce thick stems and smaller caps. But otherwise grow at the normal speed of my other cubes.
Possibly these same genetics, possibly PE, were used to inoculate a jar and then g2gd to 5 more grain jars. These are about done colonizing and should be spawned in a few days.
I'll post some pics once I have some fruits to show off

Is this cube growth? Top of petri view:
 Underneath petri view:

I inoculated it with a print i was given for free about 6 days ago and this is all i have, it's my first grow so idk really what to look for but i think it's mycelium and not bacteria. It has a branch like or vein like patterned growth but it's extremely light, i cant even really see it if its not being put above a light like in the picture. Idk if this is a good place to post this but i'm looking for some input. Am i just being impatient as a noob, or is this not cube mycelium. Thanks everyone

Looks like it could be. You can transfer it to a clean plate. If it takes over the plate very quickly it's not cube myc. If it turns green or any other weird color it's not cube myc.
Just keep your spore plate around, in case you need to go back to it

Cornmeal LI works like a charm! Hands down you can't beat the speed. 2nd to none as far as ease and use. slurry is faster, but you have to make pf jars.
 updated grow.

Hey Eat, what do you feel makes the cornmeal plates better than regular agar LI? Greater mycellial mass? Do they colonize deeper, faster?
So far my regular LI hasn't been super inspiring, and seems to have high recovery time even blending it like 2 seconds.. Gonna try some 1:2 grass seed : water slury, hoping that gets it done fast and easy.
--------------------
I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...
