PM me if you want a print NB. I got some KSSS if you want it. Good genetics.

I think it would be fun to do this. Two months is a ways from now though, but if it works out I'd like to join in.

we'll see what this looks like in a couple months. I'll play along if some more people do.

if we all start with S2A then it will be interesting to note germination times. not extremely scientific but if people post the recipe and aprox age of the spores we could get some sort of correlation maybe. correlation isn't causation but it is cause for investigation

I'm down. I really want to have agar down by then- I've been studying Pasty's Easy Agar Tek, I already have a bunch of Petri dishes and scalpels and forceps- I got them all to try to clone any baddies that come up from the grow I have working now, so hopefully I'll be proficient when the time comes.
I'll wait to PM you til after I get a hang of agar, wouldn't want to waste any prints.

This sounds super awesome- I'd love to see the results from everyone!

I'm in, just starting agar now so by then I'll hopefully be practiced enough to not fall behind the good growers.

Agar is easy it just for some reason seems intimidating because like riding a bike you know you might not have 100% success at first.

noob tips for agar-

some potato flakes have a couple black specs here and their, notice them when they are going in so you don't mistake them for a contam.

don't pour too deep - it's a waste

I find if you make slightly stiffer agar it tends to work better

Pour as deep as you want, your culture will last longer on a deeper dish, as long as it doesn't exceed like, an inch.  This is useful when you're storing them in the fridge long term.  Sticky/less stiff agar is also good because you can do that upside-down inoculation technique that munchauzen came up with and the transferred mycelium will just stick to the agar.

So... the only advice I quoted that was advice and not an opinion is about the specks.

I have just recently got back into cultivating after a few years break, and this seems like the perfect motivation to get me going. I just used my first syringe and I don't have any spores though. Any kind soul willing to send me one? I shall return the favor or pass it on once I'm able to take some prints. The one I've got going now is Burma, so it'd also be cool to expand my genetic library.

He's right. Everything happens on the surface so theoretically it doesn't matter what depth. For storage pour deep though. Or just make slants

Well I meant it to be framed as "tips from a noob" not "tips for noobs" but I don't know why we're talking about semantics anyways, are you having a bad day?

instead of everyone growing, we should start a "GROW POTENT PRINTS ONLY" committee so there comes a point where there is unlimited prints that are from potent mushrooms.

BUNK MUSHROOMS BE GONE!

--------------------
Something there is mysteriously formed,
Existing before Heaven and Earth,
Silent, still, standing alone, unchanging,
All-pervading, unfailing,
I do not know its name; I call it tao.
If forced to give it a name, I call it
Great (ta). Being great, it flows out;
Flowing out means far-reaching;
Being far-reaching, it is said to return.

It's just a shot away..

Semantics can be kind of important when text is the medium.  And no, if you think I'm having a bad day right now I'd hate for you to encounter me on an actual bad day.  I just don't care for your backtracking and trying to refocus the topic on semantics, rather than the "tips" themselves, which were the actual issue here.

I prefer to pour thicker plates like 30 milliliter in a 90 millimeter plate, thicker plates last longer in storage and don't stick to the sides of a jar when doing agar to grain like a thin pour

It was my opinion, not advice remember? I'm glad that you think you're some kind of badass.

My apologies, instead of noob tips I should have said my preference.

Why does everyone who gets corrected around here try to make out the person correcting them to have an ego issue and think they're a badass?  Pastywhyte has that issue sometimes too and I know for sure that he's actually helpful.

If anything it proves how much of a pussy you are if I can't even be a "normal person" for adding to a piece of advice(and it was advice, no use arguing that) that was rather one-dimensional..  As if that's what defines my attitude problem.

Dude, you told someone new at agar some stuff that isn't necessarily true.  Just say okay and walk away, why are you arguing with me at all?  Like, how long do you want this conversation to be?  It could've been over already.

Yeah seriously. It was good advice. If you don't like a persons attitude just pm them. I like any kind of responding to stuff that are about cultivation. Kind of a thread derail if it's about someones attitude.

 ok, tough guy

"stuff that isn't necessarily true."

so how true is it? I just wanted to put something besides the thread monitor pic. Sorry that it was too "one dimensional" for your 7000 posts.

Sorry for derailing.
