I taped another weight on top of it :P. To stop it from rocking when I bring pressure past 20 psi. The reason why I ran dry last time is partly because of that. Anyways this time it stayed steadily at 23 psi and made no noise

you could run it at a lower psi and adjust the water level without taping an extra weight on.
modifying a 30$ pressure vessel is probably not the greatest idea, but if it work it works. screw it.

I like my high pressures, they're much better at killing off endospores. I wish I could do 30 psi, but I won't go past 23 psi on a presto. Pretty unsafe as you've pointed out.

here's a little update.
I ended up tossing 3 of my 4 cultures for this project.
Pesa and redboy didn't germinate in a month of waiting. Think I'll rehydrate the spores before I try next time.
Amazon had lots of good growth on half, but contam on the other half, and I just grew out some amazon, so I wanna save space for other stuff
I'm most stoked on the pans which seem (to my novice eye) to be doing well.
here's my 3 peu (almost) isolates, and the pans.
how does the pan myc look to you guys?

OK...here's my update:
Button mushroom pertri on 10/3/15 - most disappointingly slow of all the efforts:

The Black Poplar petri was made into L.I. and used to knock up a solitary quart jar, which then was spawned to six quarts G2G. Stupid. Should have done L.I to six quarts, but I only had 1 quart of sterile rye berries at the time and the mycelium was threatening to climb right out of the petri dish!! Bad planning. All six are 85% done and look like this:

Although not part of my original "9/1/15 Mad Season Agar Project", here's one of six tissue samples to 2% MEA from a wild Chicken of the Woods I found when foraging for edibles. All six (100%) are doing great with no contams.

My "N.B.++" - 1 jar culture and my only "active" grow for the purpose of providing prints to others are pinning as of this morning (!!), as are the Pearl Oysters which I spawned to four quarts of rye berries then to a small block of pasteurized straw with no added nutes.

Finally I can update, and I'm finally able to sit down to do my work! Shit kept happening. Pc's breaking, work, having to work on my vehicles, winter coming, fixing my electrical, making an auto waterer for my animals, lazy af, etc.
Here we go!
45 jars and 20 backup/storage/might inoc plates were made out of AA+, PEU, Reishi, Shiitake, Mexicana and pan Jamaica.
Transfers waiting for tomorrow. My lazy ass can only do so much in 1 day lol.
Some are actually pinning too going to be getting some pins cloned for sure!

ok so i spawned a bunch of overgrown jars tonight. unfortunately, life circumstances got in the way. but here she goes. i'm also incubating the bulk subs with poly in the holes as i used to do for many years.
its been some times since ive used poly during colonization but i did 10 tubs that way tonight. when i was doing it a while back id be using some low spawn ratios like 1:4. now im doing closer to 1:2 or more. but was also using uncased bulk substrates with dung and straw in them. i recently did those 10 tubs with dung/coir/verm/gypsum. was too lazy to mess with the straw this time.
ive got p. tamps( 4 quarts grain to 10 quarts substrate), pan jamaica(5 quarts grain to 10 quarts sub), AA+(5 quarts grain to 10 quarts substrate), Syzygy(10 quarts grain to 10 quarts sub). spawn ratio was 1:1 for the Syzygy. and i tried something new. i didn't quite break up all the grain. i left it in big chunks like about the size of a marble to golf ball(this is just messing around to see what happens).
last bulk sub for 10 tubs was:(i constantly change bulk recipes nothing is ever set in stone for me) 6 small bricks coir, 8 quarts verm, 2 quarts gypsum, 4 quarts dung 50 quarts of water at 5 quarts per tub.
sub by volume in 10 tubs was 100 quarts at 10 quarts per tub.
the p. tamps mycelia and stones smelled just like mexi b to me. pan jamaican smelled PANTASTIC!

Wow, those look amazing for day 3! Mind explaining (or providing a reference to) the cornmeal plate liquid inoculation? Not familiar.
