Foods imported from China

Might as well be poison based on all the article I read and horror strories and everything. Animal abuse, feeding fish with chicken shit, growing garlic in human shit, etc. Then they load it up on a boat, ship it here and we eat it....
Of course all these stories might be completely false. But I say fuck it, I'm not taking any chances.
Every time I do my groceries I check the label for "Made in ..." or "imported from ...". I'll buy anything from the G7 with North America as a priority. I don't even trust Mexican products anymore.
Even if the practices here are as bad as Chinese, at least I'll be supporting the local shitty practices instead of the Chinese's.
Who else does this?
Which country do you not trust your food to come from?
Would you pay more for local products than a cheaper Chinese alternative?

If your labelling is anything like ours in Australia, the fact that a product says 'Australian made' or whatever, usually doesn't mean shit. https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/groceries/country-of-origin
There is a push here at the moment to change the labelling so that it shows a percentage of where the ingredients come from.
I would pay more for locally made products, but only to a point. And if I'm broke, I'm eating the Chinese shit.

you know that most of the organic produce in Whole Foods and many other stores is imported from china and mexico where they dont actually have to grow it by the USDA organic regulations, I wonder how many of these 'organitards' would put whole foods out of business if they realized it's not organic that they were eating. how many would swear they have cancer from pesticides and GMOs

Yeah, unfortunately the only real way to know what you are putting in your mouth it to grow it yourself. There's no questions about anything then.

I don't give a damm about organic or GMOs.
AS long as it doesn't come from a sketchy country, I'm good.

I broke a tooth on a damn rock in a loaf of bread from the most expensive exclusive baker in town. This never happened to me with supermarket bread, even with the cheapest crap.
The Chinese make wonderful things at affordable prices. Some of them are crooks but most are very decent folks, impeccably so.
I would not recommend however to buy Chinese "herbal" medicines as they are often laced with pharmaceuticals in strong doses to augment them.

Bullshit. If it's USDA-certified organic then it is as organic as anything from the US. Doesn't matter where it came from. The USDA does inspect these things you know.

Lets not make this a "mistrust foreigners" thread but a wholesome food quality thread.

Last night I ate an organic tomato I grew that had a little bit of blossom end rot, and I've crapped about ten times since then.
Coincidence? I don't think so.

Other chinese products are really poor quality/wear out quick, why would you expect their food exports to be any different?

Its because you grew it.
The fda inspects foreign producers of organic foods and they have to follow the same regs to put that label on the products. Its the only assurance you aren't eating a bunch of chemicals, pesticides, and frankenfood. We will let pris eat that crap.
Did you know they are blocking country of origin labeling? The tpp will do away with it altogether. Say thank you to obumble for all he has done for (to) us.
