Chilldog post #1. Tampanensis.

Heyo everybody,
I have been reading and learning from this site for quite a while. Thank you all in advance for your time, patience, advice and insight.
I am in a transitional period in my life. I am living in a home where it is perfectly acceptable to cultivate. However I am horrified at the conditions. Contaminated jars and petris are dumped directly into the trash inside... We don't need to discuss this issue. I know how horrible it is...
So!!! Tampanensis!!!
Spore syringe to agar. This was my first attempt at agar. I shot way to may spores onto the plate and had numerous colonies germinate. Tons of tiny stones on the plate when I transfered.
Agar to grain. I have been using a sort of foomans tek for my wbs. He has two versions posted that I found with varying times. This time I believe I ended up a little drier than ideal rushing the "soak".
In one jar I just tossed a stone and not really much agar.
Here are the jars at 10 days since inoculation after the shake. Some condensation, I believe it is due to dramatic swing in temperature.
I think the dry wbs slowed things down a little bit.
The condensation dissipated and the growth has become more aggresive.
Today is day 12:

The plan is to gtg these to half gallon jars. If I had more confidence that I wouldn't just melt bags in my PC, I would do spawn bags...
I want to stay confined to a tote for this grow. So unfortunately not ideal conditions.
Thank you for reading! Wish me luck

Day 13 Here go my jars. Looking good. I tried to show the sides of the jars that have the least growth. The first picture is to show better detail of one of the best jars.

Looking good, indeed!

The mycelia is hard to see at a distance, compared to Cubensis

Tampanensis seems definitely much more faint than cube mycelium.

Day 14:

Im very excited at how they are doing.

I shook this bitch up. It was the most sporadic and had the least growth of the 12.

Should I shake this hoe? I can provide more pictures if need be.

I'm still unclear on this. You dropped a stone into one jar and g2g from there? Or every jar got one stone from agar thrown into it?
Either way, if you want quicker results next time, clone your biggest agar stone to an LC and shoot up your jars with a heavy dose of the stone LC. This gets the jars colonized much faster and full force stone production begins sooner.

I'm probably going to stay away from lc for now. All 12 got an agar wedge. One was just a stone and a small amount of agar.
Seed is drier than I would have liked. Slowing things down.
I'm most likely gonna blend some agar in my oster and pour it next time.
Edit. I am seeing now that tampanensis isn't as resilient ad cubensis mycelium. I will work towards liquid inoculant for even and quick inoculation.
This was my first time working with agar and I thought it good practice agar wedge inoculation in all of them.

Chilldog's first tampanensis grow. [Re: Chilldog]

The jars reached 100% colonization around day 20. I have pictures from that day that I shall post later.
I just PCd four half gallon jars of wbs. I intend to g2g one quart of tampanensis into the four half gallon jars.
I will post current pictures this evening.
If I'm not mistaken I believe I can see sclerotia beginning to form!

Shit yeah it is. But once it fully colonizes it should be way thicker than cubes. It will also start to show coffee colors where stones are forming.
What is your ideal outcome? Stones or fruits? This can be a tricky species for a beginner, although I'm guessing your not.

Fuck... Life happens... Sorry for the delay.
Here I am! 1 quart jar broken on the ground. Fixin to add another quart and some cvg pasteurized in jars to this 27qt mono. Fingers crossed.
1quart g2g to 4 heavily overfilled half gallon jars. Twas done in a SAB that was too small. Bumping the lid. Very terrible form indeed. I do not have high hopes for this transfer, but we will see. Won't do that again.
The original quart jars are looking good still. 9 left at this point.
Blojo, I'm still very new however I feel I grasp the basics pretty well. Seems like I'm trying fr fruits and stones now, haha. Also the mycelium is slightly browning in a couple jars, so hopefully stones on the way as you said.

Chilldog's first tampanensis grow. Quarts, half gallons, and 27qt mino. [Re: Fantastic Mr. Fox]

I'm very surprised that the half gallon jars are doing as good as they are.
I see sclerotia! The two pictured are in jar 5, the most brown of the quarts. I see a couple other stones in other jars too.
Lil 27 is looking sexy, I laugh every time I peek and see glass shards in the tub.

tub had a tiny amount of green. i suspect too low of a spawn ratio and the fact that i swept one of the quarts off the ground... haha.
half gallon jars went south as well.
so, all of the above went into the trash.
got a couple small stones and a couple tiny fruits from the tub (6.6g wet), should be enough for a mild trip!
quarts are still looking sexy, the stones i can see are getting bigger!
thanks for watching. i hope to do more soon.
