My dog Indie

So earlier today I received a call from my mother that my 14 y/o german shepherd/ wolf has not eaten in a few days. We have known this day has been
coming for some time but god damn it's hard. We made an appointment for Friday to put her down. There are many other health complications and we decided that
if she seems unhappy that it is time, well it's time. She has had a good life, great dog, shit she wasn't a dog she has been a part of our family.
Just as important as anyone else to be honest. She is my first daughter and has taught me so much. She will be deeply missed. I'm sure most of you wont
give a rats ass about the thread, but those that do let's honor our love for our 4 legged family members past or present. Post a pic and a brief story if
you want. I know I would appreciate it and some others out there would too. One love people!

I'm so sorry dude. I know how hard that is. but it's for the best, you know. You don't want to see her in pain anymore. Best wishes, friend.

No I know man, like I said this is something that has been coming for a while. I guess I am blown away at how much this has affected me. I mean seriously
most of my family has died in my life, best friends been murdered, but my dog has seriously got me choked up more than any that I can remember. Thanks for the kind words.

It sucks
I don't know why I ever get new dogs knowing that at some point I'm going to lose them. The hardest for me was a pound dog I got when I was around 12 or so. His name was puppy, he was half chow half doberman and I loved the hell out of him. Despite the two breeds being known for aggressiveness, he was the most timid and friendly dog I've ever known. He never once growled or showed aggression to anyone at all. I still remember the day he died. Don't know what from, we had left one day and came back a couple hours later, I passed by him thinking he was sleeping and then my grandpa came and told me he was dead.
I started digging his grave and I couldn't even see what I was doing because of all the tears. I was just furiously digging into a spot in the yard completely blinded. Eventually a friend of my wife came by and they made me sit down and he finished the digging.
I would give just about anything to bring him back, even now and it's been about 15 years.
Went many years without a real connection to any dog after him. I now have one and and I'm afraid all over again. My dog Loki is only about 1 1/2 years old, but I know some day in the future I'm going to experience the same shit over again. I love her as much as I loved puppy.
--------------------
With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline

Yeah, I recently lost my kitty of 10 years suddenly. I'm not ashamed to say i did some bawling over it myself. But i got me a sweet little kitten now and that makes things a lot better.

Yes, you've got to get back on that horse, because you'll miss out on the love you get from a new friend. Yes, it hurts like crazy to lose one, but a new pal lessens the pain considerably.

Damn bro that sucks. I know what ya mean, we have 4 dogs at my house with the wife and kids and not one of them comes close to my dog. I took her to my
parents a couple years ago when the wife and I had split but when I went back Indie was so happy over there with another dog her size that I let her stay.
I couldn't give her the attention she needed having a new born and all that shit so it was good for her.

We lost both of our cats in a matter of 2 moths do to being ran over and mauled by some dogs. Well we thought the second one was ours for a day until
one of the neighbors found our cat. The poor cat looked just like ours but had been so badly bitten by these two dogs that there was no real way of
telling. Well the second one was my cat so I had lost it like a little kid. I usually don't care for cats but this one just got me. He's still my best
bud and I am thankful that it was not him that got killed by the dogs. But yeah animals are awesome. They give us their hearts with no holding back.
If an attachment is made with any animal it is fucking hard when the go.

Bummer man. I think when my dog dies it will break me more than my parents. I raised that fool since he was a pup. Trained and made sure he's a good boy. Just thinking about it makes me want to cry. He's about 4 now I believe.

Fuck it, just got back from the pot shop and got my girl some tinctures of cbd oil. She won't even drink water at this point. She's still up and walking around
but you know she is fucking hurting bad. The appointment stands but I don't think she will make it until then. I know that mary jane can be poisonous to
dogs in high amounts so don't preach about that. If anything I want to give her a little bit of relief.
