Why trichomes change color

I am curious if anyone knows why trichomes would become darker in color later in harvest?
A dispensary I was applying to today popped the question: "What is the difference between dark and clear shatter?" I had no idea, he said it was purely a difference in harvest time, but did not know actually why it changed color.

because of the relative levels of cannabinoids
THC dominant trichs are clear/white CBD/other cannabinoids turn them yellower

So you can make a plant CBD heavy just by waiting longer?

Shot in the dark, but do you know why CBD or other cannabinoids have darker color? what constituent of them causes the darker color?

I believe pure THC is amber, too, so I don't think you can link color to any cannabinoid.
For all intents and purposes, fresher nugs = lighter oil/shatter; Crumbly, fully dried buds will make much darker oil. Some strains will however just come out darker, and some lighter.

Most of the stuff used to be like 2% cbd now you can get anywhere from 4-8%
which is basically saying 95% of the bud you smoke is like 1%cbd and 8-14%thc
