Turkey Tail Mycelium
    #21879326 - 06/30/15 05:51 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

I have 10 jars of Turkey Tail mycelium on WBS that I believe all have a small amount of contam.
I'm wondering if I emptied the jars into a hollow log in my garden, would the mycelium colonize the log and fruit in the right conditions?

Seems a shame to throw away all of this spawn :frown:

Probably. Is there still bark on the log?

I would fill in the top of the log with wood chips or sawdust too.

I believe it's a bare log, no bark, but I'll have to check. Good idea with the woodchips/sawdust, will do that for sure

You might try to figure out a substitute for the bark on the log. Maybe a wrap of plastic, burlap, wax paper....hell I don't know. Something to keep the wood from drying out.
