I live out in southeast arizona and own a cow that I only feed alfalfa hey store bought grain pellets and I was wondering if it was possible to grow right in the 30 foot by 30 foot corral just in a small area I would block off do the steer didn't step on them. Would I have to put spores in the dung myself? Also monsoon season is coming up so it will be humid for weeks at a time. And im new on here so I hope I didn't post anything I wasn't supposed to.

Spores don't go directly into the cow shit, at least not if you want measurable success.
You need to create an inoculant of some kind like some colonized grains, and then bury that with a bunch of your manure.

spores go into the horse or cow's water. that's the way you would go about doing it, and even doing that way is going to be slim chances of success.

Ok Damn that's too bad haha I wish it was that simple I need to do some more research before I just post things.. srry. I do got plenty of manure to make a substrate though. When I feed him I also throw the hey squares right over b the fence n he stomps alot of hey into the ground witch is basically a bunch of cow crap so its like hey/crap mix.

Has anyone actually tried this? I posted a similar question months ago, noone had first hand experience with spores in the trough water.

That's one of the ways it works in nature so why not? Try it out op and then report back with results if it works.

You put a bunch of prints in water and wait and see if shrooms come up much more so than normal after a rain?

When we start getting monsoons ill get a couple prints and just try it for the hell of it. I think it might just be too dry out here in Arizona though.

Has anyone ever documented wild outdoor cubes growing in AZ? I suspect not.
