That's lucky she felt something, SSRI's inhibit serotonin reuptake receptors in the brain and are widely known for inhibiting serotonin like trips such as shrooms.

I'll see if I can get her to write a trip report on my iPad, and then I'll copy it word for word when I get time. Might be a few days, we're in the moving process currently.

That would be so cool. I wish my mum was so open minded, she actually believes I'm going to end up a junkie.

Serotonin syndrome is a risk but it's really rare. I took shrooms and various anti depressants for the treatment of migraine and chronic pain for years. Furthermore, doctors prescribe anti depressants and other tryptamines regularly for the treatment of migraine. The anti migraine drugs known as triptans are in the same family as psilocybin and they will be used in conjunction with drugs such as amitriptyline, duloxetine etc.
Anti depressants can reduce one's ability to get high on psychedelics though. However, not all anti depressants are the same and there is information stating that tricyclic anti depressants can increase the effects of psychedelic drugs.
Please be aware that the more serotonin agonists she's taking at once increases the risk of her developing serotonin syndrome. If one were taking anti depressants and tryptamines together and then started to add drugs such as tramodol, metoclopramide etc to the mix then negative drug interactions might be experienced.
I recommend researching this information yourself from authoritative sources because there is a lot of misinformation online.

Implying that in the future, she should avoid taking psych meds? I think it takes a while for it to get fully out of her system, and she had to slowly get off of them of they can cause seizures/stroke/sudden death. I used to take them when I was a teenager (with a prescription). They made me a suicidal/numb sociopath. Dunno how she functions on them, but she manages.

It's true that SSRI's increase the risk of seratonin syndrome because they inhibit the reuptake of it which means there could be too much. This is highly unlikely unless someone takes ludicrous amounts of shrooms.
Next time she tries them out i'd recommend not taking her SSRI for one day prior. Although she's been on them for years so it may have side effects so obviously discretion is advised.
One use for SSRI's i've found is that they can prolong a shroom trip too, if you take one 2 hours after dosing shrooms, the effects seem to last up to 8-10 hours instead of the usual 4-6. I have a quick metabolism so the time frames may change for others.

It's also interesting to note that microdosing psilocybin (0.4-0.8g dry shrooms) reaches the same intended outcome as SSRI's without any of the nasty side effects. Psilocybin metabolizes into psilocin which acts on the brains serotonin receptors much like SSRI's.
The difference is that SSRI's slowly increase serotonin levels by reducing the amount that is reabsorbed into the receptors while psilocin is quick and acts just like serotonin and is almost chemically identical.
Almost everyone has taken vitamins in the morning or coffee to keep them going, why not a little boost of neurotransmitters to get through the day? I did it for two months and my productivity and general wellbeing sky rocketed.

Call me a skeptic, but that just doesn't sound accurate at all. Do you have any links supporting said claim? I'm curious.

Yeah, I wanted to get some anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medications, but then I got anxious about going to see someone to prescribe them to me. I really need to get some.

Sure, a phosphor is removed forming psilocybin into psilocin. http://www.thinkingzygote.com/2011/09/how-magic-psilocybin-mushrooms-work.html http://bioweb.uwlax.edu/bio203/2011/bielmeie_luke/Pharmacology.htm http://magic-mushroom.com/psilocybin-mushrooms https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psilocybin
All you have to do is be honest, they are used to treat anxiety, OCD etc and if you go to a doctor telling them you've been too anxious to even see them they're more than likely to recommend you take them.
If you really do need it, the doctors job is to give it to you. Millions of SSRI prescriptions are given out each year because most of the time they work, sometimes however the side affects are too much so people stop using them. Nausea, general weirdness for a week or two.

I was under the impression that the two were both acting independently. The psilocin, which emulates serotonin, and Psilocybin, which emulates DMT, with a natural monoamine oxidase inhibitor molecule
I'm sure one day I'll get my meds

My mom just tripped on some mushrooms with close family. I wish i was there. I would have taken some lsd and it would have been a great bounding experience i expect. This was her first time in 30plus years. Cheers to my my mom and yours.
Maybe 2.5 or 3 grams for next time will be good.

Have them read the 'Shroomery Trip Levels' page. Tell them to take their time and understand it.
Tell them you think starting at a level 1-2 experience once in a while would help them tremendously (depression, all problems).
Really it is possible you just have to know your mother well and know how to persuade/talk/present the idea to them.

Not trying to make it sound like a cult or anything, just going to see if they respect my judgement, and I'll make responsible trip choices based on their brain chemistry and emotional standpoints. I'm a good trip guide apparently.

From what I've heard you can't grow them indoors and they're not common in the states. At least not my state.
I've got some ATL #7 thought. Might try a rye cake one sooner or later.
