Need help regarding BRF/PF tek

So I followed the tek religiously so far, except before steam sterilizing the substrate in the jars he puts micro pore tape over the inoculation holes. I of course didn't have this and decided duct tape would do and I ended up with a lot of extra moisture in them. The top 1/2 inch of what was once dry verm is now damp and on the sides of the jar I can see the moisture (not much, but noticeable). I'm really hoping this didn't fuck me over will I be good or are the jars not going to be effective now?

if you put duck tape over the holes then definitely no extra moisture would have got in. but tape is completely unnecessary anyway. chances are you made your mix too wet if they came out to wet. jars don't magically get more wet during sterilization unless the lid is off
moisture does move around during the sterilization so you're probably just seeing some on the glass. it will re-distribute. take the foil off and take the tape off so the dry verm barrier can dry out and do it's job as a filter

/No, I followed the tek 100%. The moisture level was perfect and I even put foil over each one. The tape seemed pretty secure so maybe I'm just trippin. Is it normal for the initially dry layer of verm on top to get a little damp in the process of steam sterilization? I had the jars elevated well out of the water (a good 2 to 3 inches).

do you think inoc'ing through a dry verm filter that has mold spores on it can push nastyness into your brf mix? Or is the chances too slim to be a concern?

And if I did end up with extra water in there is that something to worry about? It's not like the jars are soaked, they just seem like they have some extra moisture in them since I sterilized them.
-edit- nevermind I missed the end of your post initially. Thank you for the help brotha you always help me out .

I think I've never had a PF cake go bad because I didn't use tape. I hate the extra mess on the lids the verm does a good enough job for me. maybe there's a 1:100 chance but I'd rather skip tape all together.

normally you'd inoc the cake shortly after you take it out of the pot right, but he's gotta wait a couple days maybe for the dry verm to dry up.
I was gonna say what you did initially but was unsure after these statemtnts I brought up.

Hey while your on I should probably ask: I have an extra CC of solution at the moment and don't really feel like going through all the trouble of making another sterile jar. So my question is would making a quick substrate and burying it in some cow manure and organic compost outside be worth while? Or should I just save it?
