Okay last post was real long ill shorten this one up. Been having problems pinning cakes in a SGFC for over a Month now. The only problem we found was my fine perlite, Which i switched to coarse. After those cakes had a few Aborts (at least they pinned at all) i threw them away they looked Horribly dead. Im on my second batch of cakes (they are Chitwan and burma) This time my cakes finally grew that "fluffy myc." And a few pins on a few cakes, but then once again, Quickly matted back down! Whats going on? My fluffy mycelium Just flattens back out everytime it manages to grow! And what few Pins i get keep aborting? Please help me out somebody

Pics would help, but "fluffy" means you need more FAE

Were the last cakes dry and light weight when you through them out?
Sounds like your sgfc isn't working properly. Not enough holes, holes plugged, too humid and not enough fae? Are you misting/fanning is there a light source? Did you dunk and roll them? Are they sitting directly on the perlite? Pictures would really help.

Okay the last ones i ended up dunking twice, because They were reeallyy bad bruised and were a little light. They fluffed back out, and then the same thing happened again. And im pretty certain ive got the chamber built to the T. Theres 1/4" holes every 2 inches on every side, its lifted by 2 1/2 pint jars on Each corner, i didnt plug any. Its in an open room, i mist and fan it at very least 3 times a day. They are on foil bases, no bigger than the cakes them selves really. 12/12 hour 2500K light. I will post pics soon.

Also, /if/ nothing else, Could someone tell me something?: I have 2 good pins on one cake, one looks like a regular Mushroom, a round, smooth brown cap is abou marble sized, The other however, the cap is totally different. Same cake, other side. Its cap look exactly like a sponge??? Its not brown and big Its rather small for the bulk of the mushroom, but its color And texture resemble a sponge. Whats going on? Is this a mutated Cub or what?

Try not misting directly on the cakes and fan a little more after the misting. Lift one of the cakes if it is heavy they are water logged and you need to fan more and mist less. You would need a picture of the mushroom in question but it sounds like a mutant, maybe an inverted cap.
