do metabolites affect mycelium growth?

I have a bag of oysters colonizing but the places where metabolites are growth there seems to be slow

metabolites usually form where the mycelium has colonized the substrate and condensed. if you're seeing liquid before then, it might not be metabolites. pics would help

It may have some competition which is why it's growing slower in those areas and producing metabolites to fight off the invader.
