HPPD is just the visual/auditory effects of a drug slightly persisting after the trip (so ive been told). My question is, is this claim true? if not, is depersonalization a form of HPPD? Will DMT bring back depersonalization in a person? Lastly, Is HPPD a form of PTSD?

No. Hppd is a permanent disorder that prevents one from functioning in society due to hallucinations, anxiety, lasting paranoia, but mostly referring to lasting visuals like tracers and colors melting and merging.
This is very uncommon. Most people this doesn't occur unless you overdo it like me and have some minor visual effects and anxiety for a month or 2 tops. I was doing acid every weekend for like 2 months before I had a bad ish trip. The anxiety is what gets you. I started to overthink, probably just like you, that I had hppd. Nothing too major, but it was noticable and I was nervous it wouldn't go away. Didn't trip for a month and was back to baseline.
Some people may take longer to get back to normal. But i think it depends on the individual, how they can cope, anxiety levels. I believe hppd is something you can get from just one trip and it can be permanent. My heart goes out to the people who may be stuck in that mindset. Real hppd will make you unable to drive and work. If you jusy have a few visual quirks, take a break and take your mind off of tripping in general for a little while. The anxiety along with visual quirks fade. At least for me.

This was all lsd though for me. Idk much about dmt. I'm sure depersonalization is a real side effect of legit hppd though. Put it this way, if you can drive with little to no problem, you're fine. The depersonalization aspect may be due to tripping so recently and you still trying to get your ego back. Are you fairly new to this? The bigger your ego is, the more at lost you can feel during and or after a trip.
Idk the specifics on depersonalization, but i think it's some major personality changes and almost like split personalities or bipolar disorder. Are you that far out of touch? I can feel off and spacey after a trip for a few days sometimes, but nothing too bad

my depersonalization episode was nearly 2 months ago and i was waaay far out, i look back on it now like WTF was i thinking i would have auditory hallucinations lasting for a month but this was only at night time. during the day i was fine, i just never left my house. little to no sunlight for a month and a half. During the night i would hear things moving and footsteps all around my house and i would feel the presence of someone in the room but noone was there which made it hard to sleep. Shit was really fucked up for me, im not sure if it was because of methylone or MDMA. i was going for MDMA but it could have easily been bunk.

Anxiety and stress can cause psychosis. This is accompanied by extreme paranoia and can last forever really. This would be more of a PTSD response. Statistics show that people already vulnerable to mental stress such as those suffering from mental illness are most likely to experience this type of episode. It's not HPPD.
HPPD is Hallucinogen Persistent Perception Disorder. It's a Persisting Perceptual Disorder brought on by using Hallucinogens. This means that it is visual and it lasts long after you've quit using drugs. Eating a lot of LSD for a couple of months and having some mild tracers for a couple of months after, especially if you're smoking pot, is not HPPD.
I've experienced psychosis but not HPPD. I do suffer from mental illness and the LSD didn't 'cause' the psychosis. I did realize things about myself while on LSD that I wasn't ready to accept. My paranoia basically lasted until I became comfortable with myself and integrated the trip
*edit* Stimulants can definitely cause psychosis. Which includes MDMA and related drugs. Especially when heavily abused.
