My First Rye Attempt Not Looking Too Good--Yet.

I put up some jars this Fri--6/26, it is now 6/29. I inoculated the jars with a spore syringe of Cubensis. I have not seen a spec of activity as of yet. I wonder if this is normal for this type of substrate inoculated in this manner. I have grown a lot of mushrooms, so I am not exactly new at this--but rye is something I haven't done before. Does anyone with rye experience have anything to share on the topic of how long it takes for some mycilium to rear their tiny white heads on this medium?

3 Days is the bare minimum to observe spore germination. 7 days is fairly average, but it will most likely only be bits of greyish looking fuzz at that point. Should be whitish around 10-14 days, though it could take that long just to germinate (so I've been told.)
Keep an eye out for wet brownish looking goo.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

while ur waiting for germination and growth, check out "pastywhytes easy agar TEK" and see if u can't pull something like that off. it will help speed ur spawn production, and decrease contamination risk. its all stuff u buy at the grocery store.
unless ur couch locked , u can read that TEK and have agar plates ready by the time u see growth.

Thanks for reply. It has been a while since I have used spore syringes and in fact since I have done anything with fungi. I started growing mushrooms using syringes and then went to taking spawn from colonized jars and transferring it to new jars. In terms of speed of colonization, there is a world of difference between these two modes of operation.

I will do just that. I know there are faster ways than spore syringes--but I haven't done any mushroom work for about 6 years and have forgotten a lot--not that I was ever an adept, as are many members here. I am constantly astonished at the creativity of Shroomery contributors. If I spent a month straight studying these posts and teks, I would be just picking crumbs off the crust of this juicy pie.
