78 year old Dad; should I introduce him to shrooms? 1

My dad has never tried shrooms. He's 78, a bit weak physically but healthy mentally. I want to plan a day at a lake where we can just sit and chill and talk... and shroom. I'm thinking 3 grams each.
Good idea? I honestly, dont see why not? I wont tell him it's illegal. He has no idea what psychedelic mushies are. I'll just tell him it's a relaxing herbal tea that opens up the mind. I know he'd be down for it.

Hm... I got my post deleted asking if I should try a certain substance ostensibly because it is dosage advice (0 and anything more than 0 are dosages too?) So I wonder if the same rule applies to cases in the third rather than first person.
That aside, if he's down and you'd enjoy it too, why not? A long-time loner, the first time I did drugs with anyone but myself was when I introduced my girlfriend with a candy flip and some pot on the comedown. It was the greatest night of my life and brought us closer. Seems like a good idea to me assuming you have reason to believe he'd be interested.

interesting....
Go for it.
I think 3 grams for your Dad is a little high. How about 2grams?
Would be one interesting trip for sure!

It's a bit more than a relaxing herbal tea. People list their psychedelic experience amongst the most profound experiences of their lives. Next to becoming a parent and getting married for instance. I think your dad has the right to get a lot more honest information and have the power to decide for himself wether he wants a part of something like that.
Why do you want him to try it? I've noticed that I have tried to persuade my parents into trying psychedelics before (without success). It was usually because at the time I felt misunderstood by them and disconnected from them. There are other ways to deal with those issues.

What makes you think he would even be remotely interested in a magic mushroom trip? You want to talk to your father? Then talk. I'm a little concerned that the plan is to do so at a lake - where I'm presuming the two of you would be farther than usual from quality medical care? Not the best of ideas, IMHO.

Yup, I'd do 1.5 grams first. Maybe just one if he's nervous. You can always redose more. My preferred method is to make 1.5g tea initially, then 1-2 hours later, I'm drinking another 2-3 gram tea. Just know that if you redose, it takes some time to make the tea, so prepare for it just in casw. I will crush it all up before my trip so I can just through my cup in the microwave and throw in my tea buddy/bag/rubbersteeper thing when water is boiling. If you want more info on tea making, message me. Otherwise, I'd start low with your father, and prepare to redose if desirable

The fact that he is 78 and has never heard of magic mushrooms seems odd to me. Anyway, I would not try to pass them off as something as subtle as herbal tea. Mushrooms are extremely powerful and I would be pissed if someone gave me mushrooms without telling me or explaining their powerful effect. Does he have any other drug or psychedelic history?

I'm all for tripping with your dad - I wish I had done it with my dad and I would love it if one or both of my sons wanted to do it with me.
Do not, under any condition, slip him psychedelics without him knowing about it. That's criminal IMO. Be upfront, let him do some research and then see if he's interested. If he's 78 now, then he was 30 during the summer of love. That entire era went by and he didn't trip. Either he lived under a rock or he decided early on that he's not interested.

as much as i love shrooms you can't bs anyone that it is herbal tea. if they take something (anything) they need to take it with full knowledge. especially something as powerful as mushrooms, i just can see this turning in to bad day out

I'd say go for it, but just don't lie to him about what it is.Inform him and give him the knowledge he needs to know.

Definitely INFORM him first, let him decide for himself. If he honestly wants to do this then that could be great (id also suggest a lower dose like 2 or so) but don't lie to him and let him make his own choices

THIS. Don't hide anything from anyone when you are trying to give them drugs. They need to make the decision for themselves.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll fully explain to him what shrooms are and if he's down, we'll each do 2 grams in a tea. I never asked but I'm sure he's never heard of shrooms because we're vietnamese. He didnt come to the US until 1989. They dont do shrooms in Vietnam.. probably because it grows from cow shit lol. I just want him to experience what I feel has changed my life. I know he's gonna be down thou, he's a pretty cool guy. It's gon be fun.

Don't know if anyone has said this, but find out what if any medications your dad is taking, and make sure there's no relative or absolute contraindications to mixing with mushrooms. I'm sure HE'S not thinking about that or is knowledgeable on the topic, so YOU need to be!

I agree
Also, you can't just tell him its a relaxing herbal tea. You have to tell him it's a psychedelic drug. You don't dose people without their knowledge. Why would you do that to your elderly grandfather?? And three grams??? What a horrible thing to do to an old man.
You should give him one gram, if he agrees to it and fully understands what he's taking. If he likes it give him more next time.
