Psilocybe Semilanceata, Michigan. More questions than answers... *DELETED*
    #21871564 - 06/29/15 12:47 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Well they were kind people. However a fellow shroomer in the area is a lawn guy for the new construction and was putting a few quarts of spawn under certain shaded areas of the yards. If they comeback next year better than this year maybe they will continue to flourish in MICHIGAN!

A picture with the mushrooms on a newspaper is a great idea. Looking forward to seeing it

So against everything I grew up knowing about this species that I have been eating all my life in the Copper Harbor area of lovely Michigan's UP I have been finding what I believe to be active Libs in and around the metro Detroit area since I moved down here 6 years ago every year starting in numbers between 20 to say 70 per week in lawns and parks starting the last week of JUNE! Always the few days following rain with numbers increasing after every major rainstorm through the 2nd-3rd frost and occasionally in very late December(august-mid nov and late march-mid may being when I generally find them by the hundreds back in and around my hometown). Now I know they are active(as I ate them after I had them identified to the tune of anywhere between 2-4dry g's and never more than 3/4oz wet and never had less than a level 3 trip) and although I've never scoped them, I have had them positively identified in the past as Libs by a mycologist working for the D.N.R., that I was so lucky to meet, by spore print and look/bruising/location found but I just can't chalk it up to them being freaks of nature this consistent for the last half a decade+. So I guess my question is there any active almost identical look-a-like found in Michigan during the summer months with the nip, top slime layer, and mauvey brown spore print? They seem to be stronger than any of the ovoids and linis my group of shroomers find by far and those two varieties are fairly weak here in MI. I'll post some pics of some tomorrow after I walk my dog and grab a dose worth with a recent news paper in the pic with the freshies grown to prove I'm not crazy! Is it possible for them to be coming in with the new sod most people in this neighborhood have? It seems unlikely they'd all use the same company and even more unlikely they could be warm weather loving Libs so I'm lost. I'll admit I was very reluctant to join and post due to the fact I use this site for reference all the time and how from what I've seen about 1/3rd of people on here are just bashing, bashing, bashing when proper questions are asked, I understand when it is some 15 year old idiot posting pics of god knows what inactive or sometimes even poisonous LBM and asking for an urgent ID request with "insert whatever psilocybe popped up first on google the day they happened to find mushrooms growning in their mums veggie garden"? 99% sure even though I never even looked before!. Sorry I digress and I get why people get short. I'm just looking for an answer. Once I prove myself with pics I'm of course NOT willing to send spore print or dust through the US mail, however I feel like by NOT doing this it will be my only opportunity to find out what they truly are. Unless there is a local Detroiter or semi close psilocybe expert micro guy. Anyway thanks for readin, any ideas and thoughts greatly appreciated. And please don't respond with Libs don't grown in Michigan, the ones for back home were tested extensively way back when when I started my whole shroom journey 13 years ago. But if these aren't them I do want to know what and will be growing them indoors as the trip is far more visual, even at lower doses when other trip effects are barely noticeable, than 99% of the mushrooms from the 20 or so trips I've taken a year on numerous varieties since I started.(occasionally I'll throw in a dried quarter of Gyms and man is the combo a ego melter or what!) thanks everyone!

Don't be so cynical people. There are species with liberty cap traits that fruit in Summer in other parts of the world. They are potent and very visual.
Love to see any photos when you get the opportunity.

you don't have to send anything through the US mail.  use UPS

just be sure you send enough for some really accurate micro, like say oh.. half an oz.
