Ayahuasca

Hey guys,
I've been interested in trying Ayhuasca for a looong time. I've smoked DMT 4 or 5 times, but never gone the oral route. I'd eventually like to travel overseas to a legitimate Ayahuasca retreat, but I can't see that happening any time in the near future.
Those of you who have made your own brew, would you recommend doing so? Do you think it's something that should only be done under the supervision of a shaman?
Trying to make my mind up whether it's something I should pursue locally. I'm hesitant incase it's brewed incorrectly or I get the dosage wrong and go too deep or something. Interested to hear your experiences.

Do I think it should be done under the supervision of a shaman? Absolutely, without a doubt.
We americans with our stupid materialistic consumer culture simply were not raised with the right worldview or emotional depth to prepare us for using medicines of this much power. It is so so helpful to have an experienced guide when making these journeys.
Does that mean you can't do it on your own and heal yourself? Of course not. You can totally do that also. But you will be doing it at your own risk, meaning you will have to go largely by trial and error. You might have some traumatic experiences or you might simply have trouble figuring out how best to use this power.
I think both routes are perfectly viable and valid, only having a shaman is ideal. So it is up to you whether you brave enough to go on your own or want to take the much safer route.

The dosages you can find online are usually pretty accurate. While it might be a bit of trial and error, it should be fine.
The shamans that are there act as a guide as you dive into the experience. They are there to make sure things go right. While it is helpful, the plant medicine isn't going to exclude you because you do not have a shaman.
Just start low and accept everything it shows you.

Yeah, if you're mentally strong/prepared, you can take Ayahuasca by yourself no problemo. Just make sure you're in a comfortable setting (like your house/room/yard), have some good rhythmic music by your side just in case, be in a good/curious mindset and see what you experience. Yeah, things can get rough and intense on occasions, but it's nothing a strong mind can't handle.
