Not sure if you could get any information from these guys but they specialize in building stuff like this:

http://www.fungiequipment.com

On a side note RR claimed they produced 70lbs of fresh shiitake a day with his 55 gallon drum
set-up so unless you're going for more than that I would think it should still be a viable option.

Sorry for the late response guys. been busy as fuck.

So I think from the pictures its pretty self explanatory but if you have any questions/suggestions fire them off

Basically I made this steel ring to which I'll weld it to a 100 gallon upright propane tank, then cut the base off a 23 quart pressure cooker and mate it to the ring with RTV and retaining screws. A rack will be fitted to a vertical piece of I-beam that I will attach to a wench to lower and raise that rack while filling/emptying the autoclave.

UPDATE:

I ground off the welds holding the protective cover for the valve

Then removed the valve, then pumped 10X the capacity of the tank with fresh air to purge any remaining propane

Then remove the gauge assembly, had to grid it completely off as the bolts were seized, sorry for the fuzzy pic

I cleaned up the are where the opening was to be made, marked and cut

Dry fitting after cutting the opening

Next weekend I plan to weld the ring on top, the over pressure valve threads into the side, the lift assembly, and the stand/burner assembly. then some paint and finishing touches soon after

Looks badass WillSolvem!! Im excited to see more progress.

An update on my side - I am working with a welder with experience on pressure vessels to build the 500 gal pc. Attached is the design I have given him to tweak into functioning capacity. He's quoting me at about 2000 with labor and materials (not including the tank itself). The most pricey parts are the massive flanges needed. Hopefully it will be a bit cheaper though. We will see!

That's massive; How many jars do you think that freaking thing could hold?

You better get a bigger propane tank to heat that boiler. And probably a bigger boiler.  How educated are you on thermal dynamics?  Are you aware of how expensive it's going to be to operate that thing?  What's the most grain you've worked with at once?  Just prepping grain alone is going to be a chore.
I'm guessing you're going to be selling spawn?

This could be also be made with no welding at all, I was explaining how in another thread, basically cutting a hole in the base with an array of holes and bolting it to the larger vessel with a gasket. But this will mean a narrower opening. The base of the PC need not be cut out completely if you do this, just have lots of holes drilled in it and it would act like a rack, but needed to be bolted down for each operation.

Holes could be drilled and tapped/threaded in the large vessel and bolts put in from the underside with heat resistant thread lock. Then matching holes are in the bottom of the PC and its held on with wing nuts for ease of attachment. And a gasket of course.

I would test with air first and/or mains water, then a small amount of water boiling in it.

Yea I definitely need a bigger propane tank I just did not feel like clouding the model with one. The way I see it, it will be more efficient than running the 50 gallon RR steamers for the came amount of content because much more steam is contained in the unit. I am using the system to commercially produce grow bags. I will be using the unit for large scale spawn production in the future. We also might use a regular house boiler for the vessel because they are rated at pretty high pressure levels already.

I feel you on the boiler size though as it is... It wont run for incredibly long amounts of time though.. When I do 50 gallon drum steam runs for oyster I usually add water in the bottom of the drum once while running it for many hours. This is with 4-5 ish inches of water. But what do I know. ha. The welder I am working with has much experience with natural gas extraction systems, and boilers, so I am hoping he does not kill me with this massive device.
