This is probably a Gymnopus species, which is not active and not commonly eaten. There are many Gymnopus species in Mexico.
I am in Mexico City right now. Conditions for mushrooms are excellent throughout southern Mexico right now.
I have never been to Zacatecas, however I did find this specimen of Psilocybe cubensis from Zacatecas in a herbarium in DF: http://mushroomobserver.org/152226

Not sure I can compare to the King and Queen of Spain, but I gaurentee you I am more fun to hunt mushrooms with than they are.
Much of Zacatecas looks a bit dry on google earth, however some of the forested areas probably have some really good things. Such as Psilocybe zapotecorum, P. mexicana and P. caerulescens. If you find anything like that please document and save it, as they would be new records for that state.
You might want to do some hunting in Jalisco, where these species are known to grow so you learn to ID them in person.
I am headed to Xalapa today, which is kind of the opposite direction from you. I will head back east in August for the Michoacan fungus fair.
If you can, try to show up at the Michoacan fair, it is cool.

I am also leading an ecotour in Queretaro Aug 6 - 9: http://sierragordaecotours.com/paquetes/paquetes-detalle.php?paquete=20&lang=en
