Your relentless realist skepticism is very much appreciated. It keeps things in balance.

Darwin's like "Shhh! Don't tell the world my theories until I'm dead."
Because one problem with faith is that people don't like having their faith proven false. Especially long held ones regarding their entire worldview.
And people love killing the messenger.
I wouldn't be as conscientious of all the religious' feelings.

You call it faith even though you know you won't die.. In your mind you have evidence that falling into a pool will not kill you, so you do it. That is just knowing your limits. Your example of falling into a pool is not faith because you understand already that your likely hood or injury or death is minimal. You have evidence that what you are doing is safe.
My IRRATIONAL FEAR is dead scared of doing that. In fact it was dead scared of going to the pool at all and be socially outcast for being seen obese and almost naked.
I beat the shit out of that. I am beating the shit out of my irrational fears while being mindful of actual dangers I foresee.
I put faith in taking calculated risks to overcome my irrational fears but.. What I base my calculations on, not being utterly socially destroyed in the pool or breaking my neck or cramping up in fear and dying doring my falls, THAT I do on blind faith.
Nobody really knows anything. Most of what we "know" is based on blind faith. "but but but science" science you never bothered to read or trace to its roots in most cases. "but but but common sense" Where is common sense on the quantum level?
Most of wehat we "know" is really based on blind faith.

Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it:
Fear made me FAT. Fear made me CRUSHINGLY SHY. Fear made me AVOID PEOPLE.
I had good reasons to get traumatized but that was then and this is now. Time to break out of the cocoon.
I'm gonna wash that fat away, wash that shame away, get in shape and start dieting.
Thats the plan man. Mock me at will, I know itrs just friendly ribbing and maybe it isnt, I no longer care about that.
I'm going to the pool right now and make a splash.
Life is too short to spend all day behind the computer while its summer and the sun is calling to come outside. I'll heed that call.
Bombs away!

SPLASH!
See? didnt kill any of us.

Good for you, being overweight can be incredibly intimidating with modern socialization and our precast images of what people should look like. Being fat is a definite danger to your health, I'd recommend you keep trying to wash it away with will power, exercise and healthy eating (no sugar!)
The human race knows a lot... technology isn't based on blind faith, neither is engineering. That'd be pretty silly if they were and they probably wouldn't work if we didn't know how or why.
Science has it's roots throughout history, there have been numerous failures and numerous triumphs that have brought us to the modern era. I enjoy learning the roots of science and how we came to know what we do, If you're interested in the topic I'd recommend watching the series 'Cosmos' hosted by Neil Degrasse Tyson.
Common sense doesn't work for everything, not much in fact. That's why scientific methods are used to create testable, observable experiments to make sense of things.
Actually, most of what we know is based on centuries of observation, trial and error through scientific methods.

Good luck man, everyone has their weaknesses to overcome. I'd advise you to make a plan, and stick to it. Otherwise you're just guessing at what is effective. Honestly, Slow Carb is a very effective way to lose weight in a different way. I can personally tell you it works, and you can still eat a lot of food, but you must stick to it 100% for it to work.

Fat or Skinny you fuked with a determined lifespan - check genetics. Its not long and trust me like the majority of us you will not accomplish anything significant or find enlightenment.
With age you will find existance increasingly rediculous and tedious. Maybe while holding onto that tenous cord hoarding the resources and power through a arbitrary and obsolete system.
