The one in the OP is an Ecuadorian Pachanoi. It has Brown hairs on the flowers, PC pachanoi have white/ash coloured hairs. The space between the areoles is also rounded, not staggered or stepped like PC pachanoi are.

OK it took a while but I finally got around to uploading my pics I took last year when it flowered.  Upon relooking at the pics and the OP's pics I agree with karode that the hairs are different.  When I was originally looking at this thread it was on my phone and hard to tell but now I'm on my laptop and the difference is quite apparent.

The side profile of lost87's cactus is also much smoother than the very serrated edge look of the PC pachanoi, although it is somewhat serrated looking near the top (once again when I was on my phone that part fooled me).

Yep, I'm pretty positive they're both PC (I like PC though so it's all gravy).

That's a whole other can of worms with pages and pages of research and discussion done and still no consensus on just what the hell PC actually is.  To date, no PC has been found in the wild in South America and no records have been found tracing it's origins so theories are all over the place.  Some think it's a hybrid (I favor this theory) because of it's vigor and other things that escape me at the moment.

Yes.

The thing is Backeberg never introduced this cactus into cultivation, we know this, so calling it so isn't correct and adds confusion. PC is a better name to use for this reason.

Can you elaborate? Just like it as a plant? Or do you have a PC that 'tastes good'?

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
'Which road do I take?' she asked.
'Where do you want to go?' was his response.
'I don't know', Alice answered.
'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'
