Healing

I've created a couple threads about healing, but if the mods don't mind, I'd like to start another just so we can discuss it.
Different methods of self-healing from different wisdom traditions-
Primarily I would like to discuss the idea put forth by William James in the 'Religion of Healthy-Mindedness':
The basic process here is to center one's heart and mind on the thought that 'I am healed.'
http://xroads.virginia.edu/~hyper/WJAMES/ch04_05.html
There is much more to the article, but this one comment is the main topic and center of it.

I can say this is among the most effective. . one's self-healing power is very great;
What can others say of encouragement to all healing - please share words of encouragement on your journey.
The more faith one has that one is healed, the more one is healed.
to be able to be under the blue sky - Whitman said being in nature is the most healing, or the way to perfect health.
Do share your helpful thoughts!
Thank you.
Or - a very good idea just occurred to me - Let's have this be the place where we share healing prayers or thoughts from any wisdom tradition.
Thank you

IMHO all disease and illness is a result of energetic blockages within the body. It can begin as purely an energetic/mental/emotional issue, but as the blockage becomes compounded it manifests in the physical world too. I agree that nature is very important and that we totally have the power to heal ourselves . In my experience that has to go beyond just having a belief that you are/will be healed. The issue must be tackled at the root of the problem, which is the energy/thought/impression that first created the blockage and the dis-ease. True healing will happen once the blockage has been released.

i really like the topic of healing - not just physical healing, but spiritual and emotional healing
a big part of my spiritual path has been based around receiving spiritual healing from spiritual healers and more recently from ascended masters via this site i feel it has been a tremendous blessing and boost on my path and unfoldment, i'm extremely grateful for it as with many things of this nature, it takes a certain degree of faith and trust to go through with of course
affirmations related to healing such as 'i am perfect health' etc.. seem like they elicit a good effect too

I sympathize with your position, and I think in most cases you could be right.
However, this does not apply to certain illnesses. Two examples that immediately come to mind are type one diabetes, and schizophrenia. These are genetic abnormalities that have no cure, only treatments, and are not the result of blockages. No amount of positive neurosomatic feedback will get rid of them, and they are lifelong.
Just wanted to stand up for those who, through no fault of their own, just have to deal with tough shit.

Yes I hear what you are saying. Personally I think it's very possible that we bring karma from our previous lives into this one, so a person who has lifelong diabetes for example probably has something they need to learn from that, a pre-existing blockage so to speak. Interestingly, I have read of a few cases of people with type 1 diabetes being cured.
Regarding schizophrenia, IMHO that is very much an energetic thing, which is why so many people activate latent schizophrenia when they use psychedelics drugs. Drug cause big changes and stresses in the energy field, and if there are weakness already present they can that to turn into something much bigger and more obvious. It's maybe not a blockage per se, but it is still of an energetic nature, more like damage to the energy field.

That's fair. Imho, many mental illnesses are not energetic or psychological, but rather, simply, just a genetic abnormality. However, I respect your opinion completely.

But why are there genetic abnormalities? Or rather, I can accept that a genetic abnormality might occur by chance but in my opinion, if someone is properly spiritually grounded in their heart and able to release things, then these abnormalities will not develop into devastating mental illnesses that lead to great suffering.
Take me for example. I was born with a tendency toward suffering from anxiety. I was always very sensitive to my environment in ways other people werent. THis ended up developing into major mental health issues for me and caused me great social alienation, depression and horrible suffering.
I am now learning that if I had simply been able to love my own heart, and remain grounded there, when this issue arose my own consciousness would have begun to transform it and consume it rather than being consumed by it. It might still have been a big issue for me for a time, but it did not have to lead to so much lifelong suffering.
That is my view on mental illness. Small to moderate imbalances turn into major mental disorders because people don't know how they are supposed to respond to them.

As well as, every weakness can become a strength, if one knows how.

One thing Chronic touches on, is the letting go of stories. One person mentioned on a health site, 'letting go of letting go,' rather interesting. The Christian idiom, 'Let go and let God,' is abundantly simple, yet, very perceptive and useful. Again - writing, and stories. To enter into the heart is really where it's at, I would say.
Dev, tho I only said a brief comment on your other page, I just wanted to say - the energy you shared was of peace pouring forth. . words don't describe it but as much as I can say, it is very beautiful, and thank you very, very much. I hope - and feel that fairly certain, trust and faith you know how much I mean that. It is very wonderful to see, and thank you for sharing it, dear brother.
Being immune from persuasion is helpful - rather than thinking to continue to persuade, it makes sense to share simply the path of being at healed, being at peace; this is the way I have seen. Each day is more light for me, has been for some time, especially the last week. Each day is new beauty and more love, and new - there are no expressions for this, but I pray peace will always be here, on earth, today, tonight, and this is the basic thing.
As one sage said - simply being happy - when we are happy together, this is the essence of it, the beauty of it, this is the real sharing of that life, and the real beauty, which is lasting and grows on and on, upward into spirit and light.
The above link is a brief writing of beloved Henri.
a few quotes and prayers:
T. Merton:
Love seeks one thing only: the good of the one loved. It leaves all the other secondary effects to take care of themselves. Love, therefore, is its own reward.
All problems are resolved and everything is clear. The rock, all matter, all life
Our job is to love others without stopping to inquire whether or not they are worthy. That is not our business and, in fact, it is nobody's business. What we are asked to do is to love, and this love itself will render both ourselves and our neighbors worthy if anything can.

Earth Prayer
We gently caress you, the Earth, our planet and our home. Our vision has brought us closer to you, making us aware of the harm we have done to the life-network upon which we ourselves depend. We are reminded that we have poisoned your waters, your lands, your air. We have filled you with the bones of our dead from war and greed. Your pain is our pain. Touching you gently, we pray that we may become peace-bringers and life-bringers so that our home in its journey around the Sun not become a sterile and lonely place. May this prayer and its power last forever. - Sensei Ulrich,

The Warm Winds
May the warm winds of heaven blow gently on your house, and may the great spirit bless all who enter. May your moccasins make happy tracks in many snows, and may the rainbow always touch your shoulder.
A Prayer for Healing
Mother, sing me a song That will ease my pain, Mend broken bones, Bring wholeness again. Catch my babies When they are born, Sing my death song, Teach me how to mourn. Show me the Medicine Of the healing herbs, The value of spirit, The way I can serve.
Mother, heal my heart So that I can see The gifts of yours That can live through me.

which was the energy of peace? In my DMT thread? I really like your posts btw, you have inspired me with confidence that I really can heal. I am learning to let go of my stories and you know whats funny? I was so afraid to do that because I sensed that there was just nothing behind them and that terrified me for some reason. I was afraid i would become like a zombie if I awakened, just aware of nothingness with no significance. I had something like that happen to me once and it was because I did not have my heart involved I think.
But the more I look at this nothing, the more the nothing seems to change from being nothing to being peace and then suddenly everything feels like it snaps into harmony with everything else and instead of feeling like a zombie, i feel much more alive and hopeful.
those teachings that say "there is no there" i think can be really misinterpreted. Because we are here and we dont change. Sure , the structures we identify with might drop away but that was never who we were in the first place, so we dont lose ourselves, we stay just as much ourselves as ever only we begin to see what we truly are.
this is what i has always loved about Christianity. It places value on the individual soul, rather than speaking about it like it is some error in a meaningless existence that needs to drop away so nothing will be left.

Yes, that is the one. In a word, it makes sense to be thankful for earth today - not some future day.
I am happy and grateful for your friendship - words don't express it, nor are they necessary.
I will mostly be in nature, gladful and blessed.

What do you guys think about the healing power of water? Water is obviously the life giver, and in my experience people are a lot more friendly in places where it rains a lot versus dry desert climates like the one i live in. I'm talking about in general, i'm sure there are exceptions.
