Monstrosa Any Stronger?
    #21864456 - 06/27/15 01:54 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

I saw this mutation of the normal cacti, it looks kinda gross but I've read it's more potent.  Is this fact or BS?

Monstrose cactus  have  the same alkaloids as the original non monstrose  versions although some - like the bridgesii monstrose are smaller in size , so there's less volume to munch on.
The pachanoi monstrose is just as potent as the short spine Peruvianus which I beleive , imo , are the same clones.

Monstroses aren't more potent.

Thanks! I'll stick with the regular ones, I think the monstrosa ones look a bit ugly!

Ive never expiremented with monstose versions but im sure somebody here has. I think the Psychedelic expirence thread would be more appropriate for trippy questions , this is the gardening thread so many answers might not be what you want.
I think the more deformed the cactus , the more cute it appears , something about defrmities are cool to admire. Ariocarpus fissuratus is pretty ugly but its one of my favorites.
monstrose versions are unique in their own ways , I love how the crests appear to look like brains and sometimes the shape remind me of caterpillars.

sometimes, something rare whorts more than something just beautiful.
While "Monstrose" denotes something ad unsual or ugly, i do find them just cool.

Again, since the monstroses are rarer than the regular ones and problably have the same amounts of alcaloids, there is no real data about that, as people don't want to spoil them and stick with regular ones.

I believe most monstrose forms grow slower too.

Monstrose forms grow slower and are more rare, thus are more valuable and collectable, for those reasons even if they did have marginally more mescaline than regular forms, it would be idiotic to destroy those plants for mescaline.  Same with variegated or albino plants, what kind of imbecile would eat them to check for potency?  I could see running chemical analysis on a small cutting just for the sake of scientific knowledge, but to kill a whole plant just for a trip would be foolish.

They don't seem that rare, in fact I think there's more on UK eBay than they regular kind.

Talking of odd, there's not one single UK seller peddling regular San pedro etc. I've had to order mine from sellers in Spain.

well, if we talk about Crested Pachanoi, it's pretty common, and you can easily find that on the net. But those sellers on ebay sell crests an not regular ones because the buyers are mainly collectors, not trippers.

Someday, Somewhere, someone will eat a Variegated Loph Crest, to trip:singletear:
