Pictures of 4 bags colonizing...should I shake them or wait?
    #21866203 - 06/27/15 08:58 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

All of the following bags were inoculated on 6/8/15.

June 19. I saw first signs of growth in this bag.
I have not shaken the bag, and the mycelium appears 'thick' and I can see the strands that make up the mycelium. The progress has been slow, its only about 15%, should I shake?

June 20th I massaged my rye berry bags to see if there was any mycelium growing on the inside.  There wasn't, but 4 days afterward there was.

Here are the rest of the bags.  One of them as you can see has mycelium on the front and bottom.  I figure 2 out of 6 sides of the bag is 33%, so when that fully happens I can redistribute the mycelium and massage?

With my eye bags I waited until they fully turned white then I shook and waited for that to re colonized then I spawned to bulk.

I'd personally shake it/evenly distribute colonized grains right now

With bags you can massage the grains. Break up that chuck and give it a little shake

Yeah massaging is better. I was just stoned and figured even distribution is just the most logical way of saying it.

You definitely are ready to shake.  First break up the chunks real good so they are like grains again. then, massage/shake the bak really good so it is distributed everywhere. Growth will rapidly accelerate probably within a week it will be near fully colonized.

I would shake/break it 'em up.  You'll be pleasantly surprised at how colonized it actually is and even more at how fast it'll move after doing that.

I had small spots of mycelium popping out of the sides of my bags after 6 days and figured "this is going to be a slow colonizer". I decided to break it up when I read that colonization will seem slow if you inject in the middle of the bag as the mycelium has to work from the middle on out rather than wrapping around the rye when you inject on the walls of the bags.

Try not to get too excited.
