starting a new life out west

I think I've decided there is nothing left for me where I currently reside. I don't want to be a part of any of this shit anymore, all I feel is hopelessness and frustration. I want to just drop everything and get the fuck out of this nightmarish suburbia. I want to go out west and live a simpler life. I want to experience and have a chance to appreciate the beauty the world has to offer. Fuck this nightmarish suburbia, and fuck all the people here. The only other thought on my mind is suicide, so I figure I have nothing else to lose. I just want to get out.
Do you think this is realistic for a kid fresh out of high school to leave everything behind and move to somewhere maybe on the west coast, or Colorado also interests me and not only because the legal weed. I really like the idea of alaska too tbh, but thats a hell of a journey, plus I'm not too fond of the cold.

Oregon has a nice balanced climate and plenty of hippies
Whether its realistic or not depends on how serious you are.

If you are truly unhappy then leave. You only get to experience this life once. And there's no reason to not follow your desires. Worst case scenario is you'll end up learning alot. You could try and get a job at a ski resort they always hire people from other parts of the world you just have to apply online. I got a job as a liftie for a winter which got me out of where I was living and Enabled me to start a new life. You'll meet lots of like minded people this way.
Im sure there is other types of work you could look into to like cruise companies and guide services too. Or try and get a job at a state or national park or something the opportunities are endless. Just look into something that interests you and go for it. Or just pack up your car/put out a thumb and see what happens. Lifes a beautiful thing and you should never consider suicide an option. Live with purpose and strive for a happy life and you will reap the benefits.
-------------------- I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Realistic, no. But you know what? You're young and there's a big old world out there that could be your oyster. Try to live so you'll have few regrets when you're old.

well I regret most of my life so far and consider most of it wasted. Wasted living in frustration while trying to find just a little peace. I love nature and unfortunately there isn't much beauty around here. I just wanna go somewhere I can see the stars at night

Then go! You may encounter hardships, but if you play your cards right, you won't regret it.

Utah is cheap and has work.

So I can post in it a month from now and see if you have followed your dreams yet.

Instead of dropping everything and running away like an emo girl why don't you actually plan it? Set up interviews and and set up your life in a new place? Just leaving with no preparation so you can see the stars or whatever seems short sighted. I live in the west and I meet homeless people all the time who came here with no solid plans. Once you get caught in that you never get out.

Leave and go on an adventure op, worst thing that can happen is you die. I would way rather die loving life then to be trapped in suburbia forever. Also if you don't like cold I would think Alaska and Colorado would be terrible places to go.

No. Lots of kids do stuff like this, but it's a very bad idea for a huge number of reasons: - You probably don't have enough money to do it - If you do save money you probably won't save enough - You have no job lined up - It's going to be almost impossible to get a job lined up where you're moving to - You won't be able to go to college because you'll have to pay out of state tuition which you won't be able to afford - You won't be able to rent an apartment because you have no credit or rental history - You're going to experience a huge culture shock when you get there - It's not going to really be any different than where you are now in the long run - You will have no safety net for WHEN (not if) you fail or have something go wrong
It's a bad idea, and a mistake that people your age often make.

sorry replying a day later cause I got the ban hammer, but I already told you in another thread pac said this same quote many different times many different ways. Another was "my on fear in death is coming back to this bitch reincarnated". Like I said, I went with the most simple way he put it.

If anything go on a road trip and see some shit. I felt the same as you outta high school. I saw some shit and realized that the suburb in Switzerland is the same as the suburb I grew up in. Everywhere is the same if you feel the same inside. It's not the place you're from it's you. Figure you out and it won't matter where you live.

Call a construction temp agency before you come out here. Figure out what you need to get working, great starting place to get on with a trade or company.
Work is picking up in LA but I wouldn't recommend going there if you want out of the burbs. Maybe Humboldt county up north towards Oregon. You don't want
to go where it is 100 god damn degrees right now. I hate the Sacramento summers, which are getting longer and longer with shorter winters to no winters.

Personally I want to move north to Oregon or Washington. The Oregon coast can't be beaten.
