So whats the deal?????
Greg seems to think mushrooms in canada are illegal, but from what I know mushrooms in every stage except dried are legal.

you will notice this page talks about bill c-7 in canada......well from what I gather this bill went down in flames years ago, and really I WANT this to be tre I will admit it, but I am not nieve and I ant to know what the rest of you know about the mushrooms laws in canada.
Cause from what I can tell greg ....I am right    
oh and GREG....its the psilocybin thats a Schedule III substance!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting.. loads of things that Canada has as schedule III would be class A over here (UK) the same as heroin etc. Seems very relaxed, or does being schedule III not automatically equal lighter sentences/fines?

When boO was in london, she asked a police man the legal status there,
and was told there legal, so it might not be a bad idea to find out what your local force thinks about them, as if canada is anything like the uk, then how the police react to certain things is very varierbal from city to city.

I am fairly certain that mushrooms are, in fact, illegal in Canada. Fresh or not.

2.(2) For the purposes of this Act,
(a) a reference to a controlled substance includes a reference to any substance that contains a controlled substance; and
(b) a reference to a controlled substance includes a reference to
(i) all synthetic and natural forms of the substance, and
(ii) any thing that contains or has on it a controlled substance and that is used or intended or designed for use

Mushrooms are illegal in Canada. Some cops are quite knowledgable about them too, especially RCMP.

I've read about countless busts by the RCMP on mushroom houses over the years, a few were very large in BC and Nova Scotia

YES but for DRY mushrooms!
if they are raiding a house and take dried mushrooms , they take the other stuff maybe cause the cops and "criminals" dont know the law well enough.
Fresh are legal so are cultures etc etc
from what I gather
if bill c-7 failed I STILL dont see enough evidence ,even with Trendals, scary , but true post might not apply to fresh mushrooms.
I will find out for sure.

I'm quite sure that cultures and fresh mushrooms are illegal.
See the old drug laws specifically exempted fresh mushrooms from the code (in much the same way as living Peyote is exemted in the current law). I guess the idea was that someone could have fresh mushrooms they've picked without knowing they are illegal.
In the new law, however, there is no exemption. My post above shows that the law does not differentiate between containers of a controlled substance (ie: mushrooms).
Psilocybin is illegal, and anything which contains it is illegal as well.

Here's what I'm talking about:
Listed under Schedule III:
11. Psilocin (3--[2--(dimethylamino)ethyl]--4--hydroxyindole) and any salt thereof
12. Psilocybin (3--[2--(dimethylamino)ethyl] --4--phosphoryloxyindole) and any salt thereof
...
17. Mescaline (3,4,5--trimethoxybenzeneethanamine) and any salt thereof, but not peyote (lophophora)
Notice how they specifically mention peyote as being exempted from the Mescaline line, but nothing similar is done for psilocin/psilocybin.

You are correct, Trendal.
The Act which replaced the Narcotics Control Act is worded differently. It removes the prior ambiguity regarding psilocybin and psilocin occurring naturally.
Possession of psilocybes in Canada is indeed illegal. Ciltivation of psilocybes is even more illegal, as it falls under the category of "manufacture of a Schedule III controlled substance".
